Aetna Names Doug Cusick to Lead International Population Health Solutions

HARTFORD, Conn.--(Business Wire)--
Aetna (NYSE: AET) a leading global diversified health care solutions company,
announced today that Douglas Cusick, 50, has been appointed head, International
Population Health Solutions (IPHS), for its international business segment,
Aetna International. In this new role, Cusick will be responsible for driving
growth for the company`s clinical and technology-based health management
services for international businesses and provincial and national governments.
The appointment is effective immediately. 

Aetna`s IPHS seeks to help governments around the world with their health care
reform efforts to better manage costs, improve the delivery of medical care and
empower their people to lead healthier lives. IPHS also provides services to
international corporations, including assessing the health risks of their
workforce and delivering wellness and care management programs to improve
employee health and productivity. 

Cusick, who will be based in Seattle, joins Aetna from Clinovations, a
consulting firm offering strategic, clinical and health IT advisory and
management services. There, he was a partner in charge of sales and payer

In his more than 20 years in health information technology services, Cusick has
held several senior positions at major technology companies. At Hewlett-Packard
(HP), he served as vice president and general manager of the Americas,
Healthcare and Life Sciences Division. In that role, he formed HP`s
international health care business unit to offer the company`s consulting and
product portfolio to governments and private organizations seeking new ways to
streamline health care systems. Previously, at IBM, he executed the strategy for
delivery of health information hardware, software and services to Europe and
emerging markets. He also managed sales and delivery for IBM`s Global Business
Services Healthcare in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. Earlier
in his career, he worked in several health care consulting and technology roles,
including co-founding OnScribe, a web-based pharmacy/physician software and
technology applications company. 

Cusick holds a pharmacy degree from the University of Washington and is a
registered pharmacist.
