Carnegie Learning Common Core Integrated Math I Program Approved by Utah State Board of Education

New Common Core Program to Help Students and Teachers Meet More Rigorous
PITTSBURGH,  April 16, 2013  /PRNewswire/ -- The Utah State Board of Education
has approved  Carnegie Learning Integrated Math I: A Common Core Program  for
purchase with state education funds designated for instructional materials. The
curriculum was reviewed through  Utah's annual  Recommended Primary
Instructional Materials  process and is approved through  December 31, 2016.

Carnegie Learning Integrated Math I: A Common Core Program offers a unique blend
of textbook and Cognitive TutorĀ®  software that delivers highly personalized
instruction for students of varied skill levels written specifically to meet the
requirements of the  Common Core State Standards. To support instructors in the
transition to the Common Core, Carnegie Learning Professional Development
services prepare teachers for classroom instruction that deepens student content
knowledge, promotes problem-solving, and encourages students to reflect on their
thinking and consolidate new mathematical ideas.

Utah  is one of 45 states and the  District of Columbia  embracing Common Core
State Standards with the goal to prepare all students for college and careers in
the 21st  century. In addition to this grade 9 integrated math program, the
Carnegie Learning  Middle School Math Series  was reviewed in the 2011 process
and approved through  December 31, 2015.  

Nearly a dozen  Utah  school districts are reviewing Carnegie Learning Common
Core-aligned Integrated Math I materials for implementation in the 2013-2014
school year.  Davis School District, a bellwether district in the state, is
among the first to purchase Carnegie Learning Integrated Math I, adopting the
program for 10 years through the 2023-24 academic year.  

Davis  School District also adopted Carnegie Learning's Common Core Middle
School Math Series: Courses 2 and 3 for seventh and eighth graders in 2012.
Carnegie Learning is supporting  Davis  teachers and administrators with initial
training workshops and job-embedded classroom support.

Based on more than 20 years of research and third-party evaluations, Carnegie
Learning curricula and professional development support for teachers are
currently adopted in fifteen of twenty curricula adoption states:  Alabama, 
Arkansas,  Florida,  Georgia,  Idaho,  Kentucky,  Mississippi,  New Mexico,

West Virginia.
