San Diego Tourism Marketing District Issues Statement Regarding TMD Operating Agreement Signing
San Diego Tourism Marketing District (SDTMD) Chairman Terry Brown issued a statement this afternoon regarding the signing of the TMD Operating Agreement:
“This is a good day for San Diego. The signing of the agreement is a critical next step toward getting necessary funding to market San Diego. Marketing to grow our tourism sector grows our market share, which in turn, grows jobs and sparks economic generation that visitor spending brings to our region.
“We would like to thank the mayor and council, including Council President Todd Gloria and Councilmember Kevin Faulconer for their leadership on this issue. We also thank Councilmembers Alvarez and Lightner, along with the city attorney, for helping bring the TMD agreement debate to a satisfactory and mutually beneficial conclusion.
“Our focus now turns to the release of the TMD assessments by the city and initiating the consideration process to invest those dollars as soon as possible to help us during the critical summer tourist season. Time is of the essence because thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars for our region, including tax dollars, are at stake.
“We look forward to doing our part in continuing this partnership with the city to improve our economy.”
