Adblock Plus ‘Bad Ad’ Videos Go To Vote

CreativeChallenge Video Contest Begins Public Voting Period

Adblock Plus, a web browser software add-on designed to block obnoxious online ads, today announced the opening of the public voting phase of its CreativeChallenge video contest.

Two months ago, Adblock Plus ( announced the Creative Challenge (, a video contest encouraging filmmakers to film an anti-advertising ad, which illustrates the annoyance of online advertising. The submission period of the contest is now over and all the videos are being presented for public to vote at

“The contest was a great success, attracting 72 filmmakers from 10 countries, who created videos of different types and forms – from the live action to the animated shorts,” said Till Faida, co-founder of Adblock Plus. “All submissions were connected by a topic of annoying ads, where they were presented in different ways, varying from the real-life pop-ups that follow you everywhere, to ad-ninjas, who strike innocent citizens.”

The submissions can be viewed at the Adblock Plus Creative Challenge website (, where there is the opportunity to vote for the favorite video and share the videos with friends via social media channels.

The public voting period will last through June 30, and a combination of votes by the community and votes from a board of judges will define the winner. The winner of this contest will win a workshop at the IAFT or $5000 worth of video equipment.
