Wildman Welcomes Famed Fattoria dei Barbi to Its Portfolio
Esteemed Family-run Estate Joins the Italian Collection
Frederick Wildman and Sons, Ltd., is pleased to announce the appointment as national importer of Fattoria dei Barbi wines from Montalcino. The addition of this prestigious family property to the Wildman portfolio complements the highly regarded estates already sold by Wildman. Wildman represents over 50 brands from premium wine growing areas around the world.
“We are delighted with the addition of such a respected estate,” said Wildman President, Richard Cacciato. “We have long observed this Brunello di Montaclino property from afar and are very proud they have chosen to become part of our Italian Estates collection. We look forward to collaborating with our distributor partners in developing this prestigious estate.”
Owned by the Colombini family since the late 1700s, the family has had properties in Montalcino since 1352. Fattoria dei Barbi’s Brunello was the first Brunello known to be exported in Europe and to the States. The company’s goal and overall commitment is to produce wines of the highest quality at reasonable prices, all with easy approachability to the consumer in mind. The estate boasts approximately 457 hectares (91 of which are planted to vines) of land and its yearly production of 58,000 cases of wine is headed by owner and managing Director, Stefano Cinelli Colombini.
Rocco Lombardo, Senior VP/COO of Frederick Wildman added, “On a personal note, I am enthusiastic to work alongside such an esteemed and historical property. Fattoria dei Barbi,” added Lombardo, “stands out amongst the 180 or so producers in Montalcino because of its prestigious enological history.”
The new partnership between Fattoria dei Barbi and Frederick Wildman and Sons, ltd., is an exciting addition to 2013 and a move towards many more years of building Wildman’s Italian estates portfolio.
