RALEIGH, N.C., Aug. 21, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The REALTOR® Foundation of the Triangle Board of Directors voted unanimously to fund construction of the garden which will provide produce for use by The Healing Place clients.
Quotes: President of the REALTOR® Foundation of the Triangle, Frank DeRonja said, "We selected The Healing Place as the REALTOR® Foundation of the Triangle key project for 2013-2014. We are delighted to fund this meaningful endeavor. The Foundation and its base of Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR) volunteers are partnering with residents and staff of The Healing Place of Wake County to build a community garden in the courtyard at its men's shelter in Raleigh. We are excited to get the project underway and look forward to Wednesday's groundbreaking."
"The community garden will have positive impacts on so many levels," said Dennis Parnell, President and CEO of The Healing Place. "The Healing Place serves over 500 meals a day to homeless citizens. Fresh and nutritious vegetables from the garden will make those meals truly special and we will also share this bounty with partnering nonprofits like the Shepherd's Table. The garden will not just feed the body; it will also feed the soul. So many who are fighting homelessness and addiction need a tranquil place for reflection. This community garden will be one of those tranquil places."
