Bank of America Merrill Lynch to Participate in Bloomberg Longevity Economy Conference

Bank of America Merrill Lynch Head of Retirement and Personal Wealth Solutions David Tyrie will participate in a panel discussion at the Bloomberg Longevity Economy Conference today in New York. The conference features retirement industry and longevity experts, along with forward-thinking corporate leaders, who will discuss the opportunities, challenges and economic impact of longer life expectancies.

Tyrie’s panel discussion is titled “Planning Ahead” and will focus on current and emerging solutions and resources needed to help people prepare for a retirement that could be many years longer than any previous generation. According to a 2013 Merrill Lynch Retirement Study, conducted in partnership with Age Wave, most people are excited about the longevity bonus, and see it as a chance to explore new options, pursue old dreams and live life to the fullest. However, many have concerns and feel insecure about their ability to support and successfully manage a long, complex and ever-changing retirement.

“We are committed to helping people live their best lives in retirement by focusing on guidance that not only gets them to retirement, but also through retirement,” said Tyrie. “This means helping individuals and couples carefully consider nearly all aspects of life when planning for and living in retirement, including finances, healthcare costs, family, giving, home, work and leisure. Where guidance is needed most is helping people understand how all of these variables and decisions work together over time, and when course corrections may be needed.”
