MOSCOW, March 2 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin told U.S. President Barack Obama by telephone that Moscow reserves the right to protect its interests and those of Russian speakers in Ukraine, the Kremlin said.

In a statement posted online, the Kremlin said Obama had expressed concern about the possibility of Russian military intervention in Ukraine.

"In response to the concern shown by Obama about the plans for the possible use of Russia's armed forces on the territory of Ukraine, Putin drew attention to the provocative, criminal actions by ultra-nationalists, in essence encouraged by the current authorities in Kiev," the statement said.

"The Russian President underlined that there are real threats to the life and health of Russian citizens and compatriots on Ukrainian territory. Vladimir Putin stressed that if violence spread further in the eastern regions of Ukraine and in Crimea, Russia reserves the right to protect its interests and those of Russian speakers living there."

Just remember that was exactly the same thing the US Said when it invaded Granada, protecting Americans and American Interests! I wonder what the United States would do if Cuba decided it really wanted Guantanamo Bay back and sent troops into take it back, I suggest the US would send troops in large numbers to Gitmo and with little doubt into Cuba!

Interestingly the comments of what the US will do to Russia, Embargoes and such, lets see all Russia has to do to totally cause wholesale chaos in Europe is to turn off the gas and oil pipelines! And the UN Security Council, what can they do with the Russian Veto!

Russia is none to happy with its Borders no longer having a Buffer Zone from NATO and the aggressive stance of NATO in the region! One should never forget the Cuban Missile Crisis was the direct result of Eisenhower putting Nuclear weapons on the Turkish Border, Russia is feeling a little hedged in and is retaliating! Bear baiting is not a clever strategy, bears have a tendency to swipe at things uncontrollably when cornered!
