Pandora Announces Technology Leadership Team Succession

Pandora (NYSE: P), the leading internet radio service, announced today that Chris Martin has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer, and Steve Ginsberg has been promoted to Chief Information Officer, effective immediately. Mr. Martin will succeed Tom Conrad, who is stepping down from his role as CTO and Executive Vice President of Product after nearly ten years at Pandora. The company is also creating a new Chief Product Officer role and is launching a search to fill that position. Mr. Conrad is expected to continue full-time for the next three months and then transition to a part-time role advising the Company’s leadership team.

The strength of Pandora’s internal leadership team enables a smooth transition of Mr. Conrad’s management responsibilities and positions the company to further capture growth and innovation opportunities.

Mr. Martin joined Pandora in 2004 and has been Vice President of Engineering, responsible for software development, quality assurance, customer support, device development, device certification and production support. Prior to Pandora, he worked in various engineering capacities at multiple enterprise software companies, including Quintus, Kenamea and QRS/Inovis. He will report to Brian McAndrews, Pandora’s Chief Executive Officer, President and Chairman.

Mr. Ginsberg was most recently Vice President of Technical Operations and is responsible for building and managing the infrastructure that delivers Pandora to listeners, as well as managing Pandora’s internal enterprise systems and information technology. In his new role, he will report to Pandora’s Chief Financial Officer, Mike Herring. Mr. Ginsberg has been a key member of Pandora’s technical team since 2006. Before joining Pandora, he had management roles at DHAP Digital and MyPrimeTime, Inc.

“I’m excited to promote two top technology leaders to these important positions. Both have established impressive track records leading Pandora’s strong team of technologists. It’s great to have the bench strength to promote internally, which provides new opportunities for proven leaders and maintains the continuity of business priorities,” said Chief Executive Officer, President and Chairman Brian McAndrews. “I want to thank Tom for his tireless efforts and immeasurable contributions to Pandora. He has more than earned a well-deserved break, and I’m glad that we’ll continue to benefit from his experience as an advisor to the executive leadership team.”

Tom Conrad served as Pandora’s Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Product for nearly ten years. Mr. Conrad has led Pandora’s engineering and product organization from the product’s inception and has guided the team as they delivered increasingly sophisticated playlist techniques, mobile, consumer electronics and in-car listening technology, as well as sophisticated advertising solutions.

“Pandora created the most effective way for music and technology to enhance the lives of music fans and artists alike,” said Mr. Conrad. “As a company, Pandora has always been driven by that intersection between creativity and technology. I am proud to have been a part of this effort, working with an incredibly talented and creative group of technologists. Everything I wanted to know about following one’s passion and running a business I learned at Pandora.”

“Our team of engineers has developed some of the most innovative music technology in the world and changed the way we all consume music,” said Chris Martin, Pandora’s new Chief Technology Officer. “Tom and I have built an incredibly strong team, and I am energized by the opportunity to help Pandora drive forward the future of radio.”

“I’m looking forward to building on the great foundation that Tom has established,” said new Chief Information Officer Steve Ginsberg. “As Pandora continues to grow, we need to ensure our technology resources are optimized to deliver the best experience possible for listeners, partners and advertisers.”
