SINGAPORE, Feb 20 (Reuters) - Airbus (EAD.PA: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on Wednesday it had a total order backlog of 3,600 aircraft after a record year for planemakers in 2007.

"Because of the high orders last year we have a pretty good backlog of 3,600 aircraft," Airbus chief Tom Enders told a news conference at the Singapore Airshow.

Last month, Airbus, owned by European aerospace group EADS, confirmed 2007 as a record year for planemakers by posting orders for 1,341 aircraft. But the Toulouse-based company fell behind its archrival Boeing (BA.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), which took top spot with 1,413 orders. (Reporting by Jan Dahinten)
