HELSINKI/STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Swedish paper group SCA (SCAb.ST: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) expects newsprint market prices to continue falling next year, its head told Reuters Paper Summit on Wednesday.
"We will see single digit (percentage) reduction in (newsprint) prices," CEO Jan Johansson said, but noted that did not apply to super-calendared (SC) and light-weight coated (LWC) magazine papers.
"We also see a very strong demand on the SC side, and the possibility to increase prices on SC and also to increase prices on LWC," he said.
SCA told its clients last week it would increase prices for SC by 4 percent and LWC by 6 percent, and Johansson said he was confident the price hike would go through even as slowing economies in Europe and U.S. hurt advertising market.
"I am absolutely sure about it," Johansson said.
