(Reuters) - Factbox on Kristin Armstrong (U.S.) who won the Olympic gold medal in the women's cycling individual time trial on Wednesday.

Age: 35 (date of birth: Aug 11, 1973)

Place of birth: Boise, Idaho, United States

Gold medal (individual time trial), 25th place (road race)

Career achievements:

Gold medalist, 2006 World Championships, individual time trial

Silver medalist, 2007 World Championships, individual time trail

Bronze medalist, 2005 World Championships, individual time trial

Previous Olympic result:

Eighth place, 2004 Olympics, road race.

Armstrong spent a year at the United States Olympic Training Center as a triathlete. She was a junior Olympian in swimming. She was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in 2001 which ended her triathlon career.
