Hoff reclaims 400 meters medley world record
OMAHA, Nebraska (Reuters) - Katie Hoff reclaimed the world record in the women's 400 meters individual medley at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials on Sunday.
Hoff clocked a time of four minutes, 31.12 seconds to eclipse the old mark of 4:31.46 set by Australia's Stephanie Rice in March.
The victory earned Hoff a place in the Beijing Olympics team.
It was the second world record within an hour at the Qwest Centre pool after Michael Phelps got the evening off to an electrifying start with a new mark in the men's 400m individual medley.
