Games city expects fine, warm day
BEIJING (Reuters) - Games host Beijing can expect fine skies and continued warm temperatures on Tuesday, according to the city forecaster, which said pollution levels will be low.
The Beijing Meteorological Bureau (www.bjmb.gov.cn) forecast a maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius (88 degrees Fahrenheit), with light cloud giving way to clear skies.
It also said air quality was likely to remain as Grade 2, or "fairly good", levels, with a light breeze helping disperse smog.
But athletes in Hong Kong, hosting the Games' equestrian events, can expect uncomfortably hot, humid weather, the local forecaster said.
The Hong Kong Observatory (www.hko.gov.hk) issued a "very hot" weather warning for Tuesday, saying temperatures are likely to reach 33 degrees Celsius (91 degrees Fahrenheit) and relative humidity will be a stifling 90 percent.
