American rider disqualified after fall

HONG KONG (Reuters) - American rider Amy Tryon fell from her horse Poggio II during the cross-country leg of the equestrian eventing competition in Hong Kong on Monday, leading to her disqualification.

Tryon was seen walking away from her horse after the fall.

The Federation Equestre Internationale, which governs the sport internationally, changed eventing rules to disqualify a rider if either horse or rider fell once, rather than twice, during a competition, given heightened safety concerns toward cross country eventing.
