Sullivan regains world record

BEIJING (Reuters) - Alain Bernard of France broke the men's swimming 100 meters freestyle world record in the semi-finals at the Beijing Olympics on Wednesday.

Bernard clocked 47.20 seconds to beat the previous world record of 47.24 set by Australia's Eamon Sullivan as the lead-off swimmer in the 4x100m freestyle relay final on Monday.
