LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The energy industry, facing soaring prices on fossil fuels and burgeoning concerns about climate change, is scrambling to introduce more renewable energy sources, become more efficient, and find other ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Industry executives, too, are seeking ways to live greenly. Speakers at the Reuters Global Energy Summit this week were asked to describe what they are doing in their own lives to reduce their carbon footprints.

Here are some of their answers:

STEVE LEER, CHAIRMAN AND CEO, ARCH COAL INC (ACI.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz):

"I have been talking to (General Motors Corp (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) Chief Executive Officer) Rick Wagoner about buying a Volt ... I looked at the Tesla but I thought the Tesla was too expensive for a brand new unknown car. But I would like to get one. I think it would be fun."

JOHN KRENICKI, PRESIDENT AND CEO, GE ENERGY (GE.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz):

"I don't drive much, but my wife has a hybrid. She went from a big SUV to a hybrid. And riding bikes and more European type behavior, we will be part of that."

TOM WERNER, CEO, SUNPOWER CORP SPWR.O:

"You know how you go to Whole Foods (Market Inc (WFMI.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)) and you don't get the plastic bag? I have become a fanatic about that, to the point where if I forgot (a reusable) bag, I put my groceries in the back seat of my car and won't take any plastic bags. It actually sounds ridiculous, but do it next time."  Continued...
