NEW YORK (Reuters) - Manufacturing and transportation executives met at Reuters' U.S. headquarters on Monday to talk about trends in their products and industries.

The following are selected quotes from the Reuters Manufacturing and Transportation Summit in New York.

CHRIS KEARNEY, CEO, SPX CORP. (SPW.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)

"We're certainly focused on the possibility of raw materials cost pressures continuing to increase and recognize that, particularly with some metals, there is at least some risk that there could be significant fluctuations ... Obviously, we can't control that, but we can position ourselves to try and defend ourselves against those contingencies as best we can."

MIKE ESKEW, CEO, UPS (UPS.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)

"We'd like more flights into Japan .... We don't fly there as often as FedEx."

"We're growing faster than the market in China, but it's hard to say how long it's going to last."

MATTHEW ROSE, CEO, BURLINGTON NORTHERN SANTA FE CORP.
