WASHINGTON, June 16 U.S. President Barack Obama
met on Wednesday with General David Petraeus to discuss a range
of options for the drawdown of troops from Afghanistan, White
House spokesman Jay Carney said on Thursday.
"That conversation will continue," Carney told a news
briefing, saying the president's national security team was
reviewing a broad array of issues surrounding the withdrawal,
which is due to start in July.
The scale and speed of that pullback has not yet been
announced, and is expected to follow recommendations from
Petraeus, the commander of the 150,000 foreign troops in
Afghanistan, to Obama.
