NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - Hip-hop mogul Diddy -- whose real name is Sean Combs -- will not face any charges in relation to an accusation that he assaulted a man at a New York City nightclub last month, his lawyer said on Tuesday.

Benjamin Brafman said the Manhattan District Attorney's office had informed him that following an investigation into an incident between Combs, 37, and Steven Acevedo, 31, no arrests would be authorized.

"I want to commend the DA's office and the New York City Police Department for conducting a thorough and very fair investigation into this incident and not allowing this private disagreement between two acquaintances to turn into a criminal charge," Brafman said in a statement.

Police sources said at the time that Acevedo had accused Combs of punching him twice in the face at the nightclub in Manhattan's SoHo district in a fight over a woman.

Combs told reporters last month the incident had been blown out of proportion by the media.

Combs came in third on the Forbes.com "Hip-Hop Cash Kings" list in August with estimated earnings of $28 million in the past year. He runs Bad Boy Entertainment, owns the Sean John clothing label, has a cologne licensed to Estee Lauder and is an MTV television producer.
