SEOUL (Reuters) - Leading South Korean banking groups Shinhan Financial Group (055550.KS) and Woori Finance Holdings (053000.KS) said on Wednesday they had not considered joining a South Korean consortium to invest in Lehman Brothers LEH.N.

"We have not seriously considered the idea and have no plans to do so in the future," said a spokesman at Shinhan, responding to speculation and media reports that it was in talks with Korea Development Bank to jointly bid for a stake in Lehman.

Woori Finance also said in a statement: "We have not received any offer about the Lehman deal nor have we considered it internally."
