Berlusconi says Alitalia unions must approve plan
BRUSSELS, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said on Monday that Alitalia unions have no choice but to approve the latest rescue plan for the troubled airline, saying there was no other solution.
Berlusconi, in Brussels for the EU meeting on Georgia, spoke as Alitalia's unions were meeting the government over the plan.
"I have no doubt that there will be an agreement because it is the only solution possible," he said.
The plan foresees as many as 7,000 job cuts. (Editing by Maureen Bavdek)
