U.S. CFTC chief:Broad coverage for position limits
WASHINGTON, June 2 (Reuters) - The chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission said position limits should have broad coverage across markets and financial instruments.
CFTC Chairman Gary Gensler, responding to questions during a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing on Tuesday, said position limits should "look across markets" and related instruments like swaps.
Gensler said he would work with Congress on the issue.
In prepared testimony, he said "aggregated position limits" would curb excessive speculation. (Reporting by Charles Abbott; Editing by John Wallace)
