Atlantic City casino win down 7.7 pct in November
LOS ANGELES, Dec 10 (Reuters) - Gamblers lost $374.7 million at casinos in Atlantic City in November, 7.7 percent less than in the same month a year ago, New Jersey's gambling regulator said on Monday.
The 11 casinos in the second-largest U.S. gambling market collected $260.8 million at slot machines and another $113.9 million at table games, the New Jersey Casino Control Commission said.
Slot revenue dropped 12.2 percent, while table game winnings were up 4.4 percent, the regulator said.
Atlantic City casinos are trying to transform the oceanside resort into an entertainment destination like Las Vegas but have faced competition from new video lottery terminals in nearby Pennsylvania and New York.
Several casino companies, including Harrah's Entertainment Inc HET.N, Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc TRMP.O, and a joint venture between MGM Mirage Inc (MGM.N) and Boyd Gaming Corp (BYD.N), are upgrading properties in the city. (Reporting by Lisa Baertlein, editing by Richard Chang)
