MONTREAL, March 20 (Reuters) - Quebec Liberal Premier Jean Charest said on Tuesday he would cut taxes by C$700 million ($600 million) if his government is reelected in Monday's provincial election.

Charest said in a luncheon speech he would amend his government's recent budget to bring in the C$700 million tax cut for Jan. 1, 2008, if the Liberals win the March 26 election. Charest said the tax cut was made possible by new transfers of money from Ottawa announced on Monday in Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's budget.
