MONTREAL, March 26 (Reuters) - Quebec's chief electoral officer called the province's Premier Jean Charest to say the Liberal party leader had not lost his parliamentary seat in Monday's provincial election, CBC TV said.

The CBC's French language network said a glitch in election results earlier in the evening had indicated Charest lost his riding of Sherbrooke, some 100 miles (160 km) east of Montreal. But updated results on the electoral officer's Web site later showed Charest leading with 36.6 percent of the popular vote, compared with 32.9 percent for his nearest rival.
