First lady winning Argentina vote-official results
BUENOS AIRES, Oct 28 (Reuters) - First lady Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner was winning Argentina's presidential election on Sunday, preliminary official results showed.
With 9.64 percent of polling stations counted, Fernandez had 42.25 percent, followed by former economy minister Roberto Lavagna with 21.58 percent and former lawmaker Elisa Carrio with 18.13 percent.
The early official results were not representative, the interior minister said, because they did not include the most populous areas of the country.
Television exit polls showed that Fernandez took between 42 percent and 46 percent of the vote, enough to take a first round victory and avoid a runoff vote next month.
