TOKYO, July 25 (Reuters) - Japanese Economics Minister Hiroko Ota said on Friday that Japan needs to try to lower costs for businesses, including reducing the corporate tax rate.

Speaking at a seminar, Ota added that concrete reforms in the tax system would be discussed in future and would include the aim of strengthening Japan's economic growth potential.

She attended the seminar along with Kazuo Ueda, an economics professor at the University of Tokyo, to speak on the direction of Japan's economic and fiscal policy. (Reporting by Yuzo Saeki; Editing by Chris Gallagher)
