TOKYO, Dec 4 (Reuters) - The five-year Japanese government bond yield hit a 21-month low on Tuesday as investors picked up midterm maturities on the view that the Bank of Japan will not raise interest rates until well into the financial year starting next April.

The five-year yield <JP00660045=JPBB> slipped two basis points to 0.980 percent, its lowest since February 2006.
