PHOENIX, Feb 5 (Reuters) - Mitt Romney won the Colorado Republican caucus on Tuesday, scoring a victory in his bid for the party's U.S. presidential nomination over rival John McCain, U.S. media projected.

Colorado was the 6th state to go for the former Massachusetts governor in voting on Super Tuesday, so called because nearly half of the U.S. states are holding contests to choose Republican or Democratic candidates for the November general election. McCain, an Arizona senator, has won 8 states. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has won 5 states.
