AES California Redondo 8 natgas unit back
NEW YORK, Sept 8 (Reuters) - AES Corp's (AES.N) 480-megawatt Unit 8 at Redondo Beach natural gas-fired power station in California returned to service by Friday afternoon, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.
The unit shut by the afternoon of Sept. 4 for unplanned reasons.
That was the second unplanned outage for Unit 8 last week. Earlier, the unit shut by shut by Sept. 2 and returned by Sept 3.
The 1,310 MW station is located in Redondo in Los Angeles County about 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. There are four units at Redondo, two 175 MW Units 5 (which entered service in 1954) and 6 (1957), and two 480 MW Units 7 (1967) and 8 (1967).
The other units were available for service.
One MW powers about 700 homes in California.
