Brazil bank lending rises 1.5 pct in May as defaults stabilize

SAO PAULO/BRASILIA, June 25 (Reuters) - Bank lending in Brazil rose 1.5 percent in May from the prior month, the central bank said in a report on Tuesday.

Loans in arrears for 90 days or more, the industry's benchmark gauge for credit delinquencies, were stable for a third straight month at 5.5 percent of outstanding loans in May, the report added.
