WASHINGTON, June 28 U.S. President George W.
Bush intends to nominate Congressional Budget Office Deputy
Director Donald Marron to be a member of the Council of
Economic Advisers, the White House said on Thursday.
Marron, a former CEA chief economist, has been the No. 2 at
Congress' nonpartisan budget watchdog agency since October
2005. He served as acting director last year.
Earlier in his career, he served as executive director and
chief economist of the congressional Joint Economic Committee.
Before entering government service, he was the chief
financial officer of a medical software start-up in Austin and
a senior associate with the Washington office of business and
litigation consulting firm Charles River Associates.
Marron, who holds a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, worked as an assistant professor of
economics at the University of Chicago's Graduate School of
Business from 1994 to 1998.
