Nikkei edges down on techs, Toyota gains ground

TOKYO (Reuters) - The Nikkei share average edged down 0.22 percent at the start of trade on Wednesday as tech stocks such as Advantest Corp. extended recent losses on concern about their earnings outlook.

Shares of Toyota Motor Corp. rose after its earnings results. The Nikkei was down 62.49 points at 17,344.37 as of 0007 GMT. The broader TOPIX index was down 0.20 percent at 1,728.87.
