News Corp sticks to original Newsday bid: source

NEW YORK (Reuters) - News Corp (NWSa.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) plans to stick by its original bid to buy Tribune Co's Newsday newspaper for about $580 million, one source familiar with the discussions said on Friday.

Rival bidder Cablevision Systems Corp (CVC.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) has offered to buy Newsday for $650 million, another source told Reuters earlier, topping News Corp's offer and another bid by Mortimer Zuckerman's New York Daily News for $580 million.
