SAIC Motor says August China auto sales up 14.4 pct yr/yr

SHANGHAI, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Top Chinese automaker SAIC Motor Corp said on Friday that its August auto sales rose 14.4 percent from a year earlier to 409,704 vehicles.

That follows a 10.1 percent year-on-year rise in July and a 14.4 percent gain in June.

In the first eight months of this year, SAIC sold a total of 3,336,224 vehicles, up 14.6 percent from a year earlier.

SAIC operates car ventures with General Motors Co and Volkswagen AG.
