Within the next decade or so, all oil will be sold direct from source to buyer. We can’t control the markets any longer. This is what everyone meant by resource wars happening. We are slowly fulfilling our prophecies again.

Is it not a bit too high of a price to ask the rest of the world’s economies to go on an oil diet, to make sacrifices just to please Israel’s Bantustan policies, to let its unbounded illegal settlement expansion gobble up Palestine, leave its never discussed nuclear stockpile undisturbed, uninspected, unaccounted?

Thank you BCerentano! I hate it when people hop on to the “israel sucks” band wagon. We are Close Allies, not puppet and master. The US has it’s own intrest with Iran and thats why we are dedicating time, money and effort into sancation on Iran (although it doesnt seem to be all that effective).

However Boreal, I do agree with your comment here “too high of a price to ask the rest of the world’s economies to go on an oil diet”. Wonder if theres a more effective alternative

Congratulations jimmy carter !!

You drank the kool aid of “social justice” and knuckeled under to the international left. So because the Shah of Iran had some ayatollahs and mujahadin in political prisoners in jail you threw Iran to the dogs. Today we live with the result; Iran back in the middle ages culturally and deeply in bed with communism and tyranical dictators who hate america, as they oppress their own people far more than the Shah ever did.

I guess jimmy hates america too and has finally gotten his wish.

@BCerentano: there are no sanctions against Syria selling its oil. None.

The ‘West’ has decided that Syria no longer has the right to trade, in the same it has decided Iran does not have the right to trade. There are no UN sanctions against Syria’s or Iran’s oil sectors, or banking sectors at all. Under international law these countries are free to do as they wish, but legality has never been a priority for the ‘West’.

You’re free to believe otherwise but you can’t change the facts to suit your ideology.

@carterbenb: go ahead big man, attack an oil tanker in the Gulf or Mediterranean, for absolutely no reason. Show the world what a complete and utter idiot you are, and whilst you’re at it, start WW3. The American military complex thanks you for their support!

What your seeing is the eventual demise of the US. They have continued on an utterly impractical and illogical foreign policy plan (economic, political and militarily) since Carter (at least) only exacerbating the stupidity as the years pass.
When the US and Israel decided to attack Iran through embargoes and sanctions (and locking them out of the electronic trading system between countries) the US sealed its own fate. Iran and India quickly decided to trade oil for gold…and now others are following suit and even cementing agreements to trade in their local currencies as well (BRIC recently and Russia/China a couple years ago). This will be the end of dollar dominance eventually…next week, next month, next year, ten years from now, who knows. But this has to be the dumbest move the US has ever done in the modern era (maybe all time). Without the dollar as the reserve and primary barter mechanism for the globe, the US is finished because it can’t sustain its debt or give a reason for other countries to by treasury bonds/dollars.

Stack the gold folks. It is and has always been a “money” no matter what the FED Reserve or the politicians try an tell you. If it wasn’t, why would other countries be using it AS MONEY in these oil deals and be so concerned with where their “reserves” are being held all of a sudden (Germany, Venezuela, etc. have all made this a recent issue).

Why shouldn’t they?

Iran and Syria have been tried, convicted, and are under daily terrorists assaults.

While so called “Anti-Government” protestors are being armed, financed, and trained by outside Countries, no one will bother to talk about the fact that they are Al Qaeda terrorists and Islamist terrorists.

Why is the World in such a rush to install the Muslim Brotherhood all over the world?

Why is no one asking some simple questions like:

Is Egypt better off?

Is Libya better off?

Who is blowing up all this stuff in Syria and Iran?

Why is there manuals that have been planning the overthrow of these Countries in the united States that are identical to what is happening (Which path to Persia).

How about straightening out our own problems instead of spending billions attacking other Countries?

How’s that Afghanistan working out?

They can not dictate what other countries can, and can not do. Period. The whole internet IS wrong if it claims that Syria can not sell oil to China, and Iran can’t help them to do it.

There are no UN sanctions on Syria’s or Iran’s oil, banking or andy other form of non-military commerce sectors.
