Instead of the self-mutilation, torture, and adherence to primitive traditions to seek forgiveness for their sins, wouldn’t these people, and the world in general, be better off simply not sinning in the first place? They would be better people for their entire lives instead of just receiving forgiveness in their next lives for all the wrongs and suffering they’ve caused others in this life.
