The situation in Tunisia is disappointing, but not unexpected.
Muslim men still live in the dark ages, and treat their women like cavemen.

This has been happening in much of the Islamic world for some time now. After the Arab spring more countries controlled by Islamist have arisen and this is its’ by droduct. Originally many of the news organizations in the west were hailing this movement as “democracy and freedom” among other accolades. It was never that. It was simply an expression of the peoples will. That is very different than “democracy and freedom”. “Democracy and freedom” allows free speech. It allows people to voice an opinion and disagree. It allows the protection of minority rights. It allows all that without intimidation and the jailing of decent. Hence “democracy and freedom” simply does not exist in these countries. With time if Iran is the example minorities will be further persecuted and these countries will turn to a more suppressive regime than existed before.
