Go after the attackers. Eliminate them. Obviously a planned attack -most likely Iranian backing. Could you imagine what they would do if they had the power. Mass genocide of Non-muslims. concentration camps. daily beheadings.

Realizing we cannot go to war against Muslims in general, still we must protect ourselves. Even if Iran achieves a nuclear bomb, if they used it they would be committing suicide. Which is not far fetched. There is a death wish syndrome that runs though Islam. Actually they would like to see the Israeli’s bomb their nuclear facilities triggering their dreams of dying for Islam.

Either they are not doing their job or you are not. If it is them, then it should be part of the story. If it is you, then it shouldn’t be a story yet. Do your homework, Reuters.

This is America, where we do have freedom of speech. as opposed to muslim countries that teach hate and intolerance, that is why a some point in time there will be a change, and as with all changes it will come with death and suffering. you can’t have 100′s of years of exploitation by the west and not have any resentment. We can criticize the arab nations for being brutal regimes, although the western nations have exhibited this in the past. if muslim nations truly want to be part of the global community, they need to change their thinking, and respect the rights of all to speak freeling without fear of retribution. they need to stop killing women, children, people of other religions. If they can’t do that, then its time to consider them barbarians and terrorists.

What I’d like to know is why all the “news” agencies are picking up the same false information and splashing it around? In the story’s first paragraph it talks about a “US-made film” and only later on buried in the article does it point out that this was the product of an INDIVIDUAL. The first and lasting impression is that the US as a COUNTRY made this film and not a person. Perhaps its just laziness on the part of the “news” agency, very few of them being very good if they leave a lasting false impression.

I think it’s outrageous that one of our Ambassadors was killed by a gang of thugs and fully support bringing them to justice, but I want to offer a bit of caution to all of these anti-Muslim comments.

Please remember that these attackers are extremists. They do not reflect the views of mainstream Muslims. Also, please remember that it was a U.S. based film-maker who totally ridiculed someone they believe to be a prophet of God. I’m embarrassed that a U.S. citizen did this. Imagine how you would feel if some Libyan producer made a film that depicted Jesus as a child molester, a fraud and an adulterer. I would hope that most Christians would have the sense to “turn the other cheek” and “love those that persecute you”, but not commit acts of violence in retaliation. No doubt some of our own extremist Christians would start Koran burnings again…or worse.

It’s laudable to seek justice for an unwarranted killing, but reacting with hatred toward Muslims (even toward extremists) makes us no better than they are. We MUST take the higher road and stop the cycle of hatred toward each others religions. Who is going to be first to stop the hate? I hope it’s us (the citizens of the U.S.).

Crazy assertions (and my rebuttals):

2)Obama armed them.
->How do you know that the arms they used came from the U.S.? Are you on the ground with a forensics team?

3)U.S. weak for apologizing for the extremist video that one of our citizens produced.
->If a Muslim extremist made a movie degrading Jesus Christ, wouldn’t you be demanding an apology? One of OUR citizens started this by making a hate-filled video. Of course they deserve an apology (along with an explanation that the video doesn’t represent the majority of Americans)

4)Send in the army! Let’s go to war!
->How sad that you want to answer violence with more violence. Even if you want war, who are you going to war with? It can’t be with Libya until you can prove that their government was responsible. Go to war with street thugs? What a waste of resources and huge risk in putting more troops in harms way. Wouldn’t it be better to send in a secret ops team to find these thugs and deal with them?

5)Under Obama, hate toward America has grown.
->Oh please! It’s far better now than when Bush was in office. Afghans hated us, Iraqis hated us, even some major super-powers hated us for being so war hungry.

We have no need to ever be in contact with these people again. We now have, thanks to fracking, all the oil and gas we will ever need, so we need not deal with the Middle East ever again. In fact we could sell our extra gas and oil at prices cheap enough to put OPEC out of business and pay down if not pay off our national debt over the next two decades. We can create millions of good, high paying jobs in the energy sector, and in the export business. All we need is the courage to get going and get the job done. They have to laughing their rear ends off as they kill Americans, attack our diplomatic missions, support terrorism against the West, call us the Great Satan and then demand that we keep giving them billions of dollars in aid and another billion in debt relief.

Cut all aid to those countries, cut diplomatic relations, and then hunt down the groups that did these things and kill them. Frankly, I don’t care if they were pulled the trigger or not. If the belonged to the group that did then they are accessories to murder and we should eliminate them accourdingly.

I think the time has come to reinforce our alliances with friends, and treat our adversaries as they treat us. If someday they want to join the civilized world, then let’s think about aiding and helping them at that time.

There is going to be war in the Middle East very soon, and we better not be caught wondering who we support and who we will eviserate.

Some posts here, as well as the Obama administration, assume that we should take some of the blame. Somehow, they assume a ‘symmetry’ that does not exist. We are completely different from them. They get violent and start killing people if we don’t follow THEIR rules, even inside our own borders. Yet at the same, time they have no respect for OUR rules, and certainly have no interest in following them.

Is there a difference between an open, tolerant society that allows varying beliefs and free speech, and a closed, intolerant, violent society where violence and murder are a way of life and everyone must conform or be killed? Of course there is. Don’t confuse the two. Don’t give their culture and belief system any kind of equivalence with ours.

One of the dangers of a clash between these two kinds of cultures is that the open, tolerant culture by nature ‘tolerates’ the closed violent one at their own peril. Taking action against them, even violent action, does not make us the same.

A good example of this is taking action against someone you catch in the act of raping your wife. If he gets violent when you try to stop him, and you end up shooting him to protect yourself and your wife from his attacks, does that make you ‘just as violent as he is’? Of course not.

Taking action, even violent action, against those who harm and kill us because we don’t conform to their closed, violent culture does not make us like them. At times it is necessary to take such action, and it is not contradictory with our tolerant, open beliefs, for us to protect ourselves and our way of life.

Recall, too, that Libya and Egypt were the two countries whose takeover by extremist elements we supported during the so-called Arab Spring.

And what is the administration’s reaction? They issue in apology to the attackers for supposedly offending them — as though we brought this on ourselves. This is a disgrace.

Where is the outrage at (1) the ineptness of this administration in supporting the rise to power of these extremists in these Middle Eastern countries and (2) the utter failure to offer an appropriate response to an act of war?

If this were any other administration — certainly including the last one — the media would be calling for the resignation of the Secretary of State and calling this the nail in the coffin for the President’s campaign for a second term.

Further, it is an act of war to trespass onto embassy grounds. If the host nation does not take swift steps to address these invasions, then they could be considered complicit and the US should take steps necessary to restore our sovereignty, even if it means an invasion.

Ironically these 3 monotheistic religions , which spring from the same source, are suppose to teach tolerance, love, forgiveness and peace.

Yet for over 1000 years these three religions have been at each other’s throats displaying nothing but hatred, anger, fighting and revenge.

The world would have been much better place had these three religions,(Christianity, Islam and Judaism) never existed.

Attacking diplomatic missions and violating international law and the U.S. government stands by and just wrings its hands and says ” Oh, my, you can’t do that!” Diplomacy be damned! Stop all foriegn aid. Bomb their little extremist groups into oblivion and make set example for what these cretins can expect every time we are attacked. If the host countries can’t maintain rule of law then the U.S. must exert our own rule of law. Counter force with greater force and let the Muslim world know they either show respect of America or suffer the consequences. Turning the other cheek and responding with the ususal diplomatic blather is no longer exceptable. They idiots burn Christian churches and kill Christians and people of different religions yet they want unquestioned tolerence of the Muslim religion. Hypocrites and degerates and not worthy to walk the face of the earth. Time to get tough and stop these hate spewing animals now.

This is is LIE. This was not about a movie. This was an attack by an Al Queda affliate group on 9/11 in response to the killing of the Libyan born Ayman Al-Zawahri. The movie was not mentioned by the attackers during the attack. The attackers chanted as has been reported in other sources, “Obama Obama, we are all Osama.” This attack was not a complete surprise, only the timing, nature and location and other details of the attack were not known. There is no indication at all that the movie was the primary motivation for the attack.

Everything that has happened since 911 has been absolute crap. Suddenly a police grid was overlayed a top a free Republic on the pretense of a terrorist threat: a threat created by none other than the CIA and the US government – a threat (so-called) which was funded right up until 911 and used as an excuse for everything from grabbing your genitals, irradiating your children and spying on your internet, to sticking swabs into drinks that you’ve purchased after passing through security theater.

The Al Qaeda network has been praised as an effective fighting force by the Council on Foreign Relations (a globalist sell out the US organization to which both Obama and his wife belong) helping to enforce US imperialism in the middle east by proxy.

You have African and Middle Eastern nations falling all over the place to so-called popular revolts (really United States government destabilization campaigns) with open admissions that the rebels are predominantly Al Qaeda. Then, to make matters worse, America’s terrorist arm is funded, supplied and trained by the US and provided air support to take over Libya for example – though the same back handed dealing is taking place in nations like Syria and Yemen.

The interesting thing is that while we in the west receive our news in a sort of government mantra ‘bubble’ format, many across the middle east and Africa know that the Arab Spring was nothing of the kind – these weren’t popular revolts, they were proxy attacks by the US government.

And here’s the rub: these wars are not benefiting the United States in any way. In fact, you’re racking up debt you can never pay down, exposing you to attack, and helping to solidify opposition. So you helped the Al Qaeda freedom fighters take Libya? Listen, Libya was more stable and less of a threat under Ghadaffi than it is today. The only thanks you’ll get for your loving interventions will be dead diplomats.

Tell the globalists who are running the US government to go to hell – no more wars to line their pocket books to the ruin of America.

You want to stop terrorism and prevent another 911? Demand that the US halt its funding to Al Qaeda immediately.

Since Libya’s government seems to be working hard to move to moderation, fighting the radical elements who resist disarming, a blanket attack on Libya would strengthen the radicals and undo exactly what the ambassador worked for.

This is what happens when you have an administration whose foreign policy is based on values and not interests. Our interest in Libya should have been to make sure Gaddafi stayed in power. Why? He was corrupt, but he was stable and had been fighting Al Qaeda. Instead, we supported the Libyian “freedom fighters” who are nothing more than armed thugs that are either Al Qaeda or sympathizers of radical Islam. Why? Because they were fighting for “democracy.” U.S. foreign policy under this administration thought they could be a beacon of hope during the Arab Spring. Instead, we have our ambassador killed in a raid against our embassy – a clear act of war. We helped this country secure their “freedom” under the tyrant, but instead of compassion, they murder our people. Stability in that nation is long gone ever since the day we helped the rebels achieve victory over Gaddafi. For the next 10 years there will be nothing but conflict between rival tribes and sects of Islam. It’s how the Muslim world is. It’s why democracy does not work in such an environment and why a dictatorship is the best option for stability.

Enjoy the show folks. From what I have read, the American embassy was guarded by Libyans!!!! AND, I have NOT heard that ANY Libyans guarding the American embassy died….or were even wounded….defending the AMERICAN embassy.

Two Marines were KILLED, but they were SENT to the embassy AFTER the attacks started….they apparently were not posted there on duty.

So, here is the BIG QUESTION:

Why was not the AMERICAN EMBASSY in a cauldron of trouble…known as Libya…why was OUR embassy NOT defended by AMERICAN TROOPS ??!!!!!!!

Since NO Libyan guards were killed, or apparently even wounded, defending the American embassy, it appears that they didn’t really try all that hard to defend OUR EMBASSY and OUR embassy personnel.

It appears to me that the Obama administration MUST have made the decision to NOT have American troops….American Marines….posted to OUR embassy in DANGEROUS Libya….and instead, ARRANGED that Libyan guards would man the security posts at the AMERICAN embassy in this extremely DANGEROUS post.

And, NOW we see how well THAT worked out!

Death count:

Libyan guards at the AMERICAN embassy: death toll = 0

American embassy personnel: death toll = 3? (I’m not sure how many died….I don’t even see it reported here)

Blow-back happens. The Empire is being resisted. This is good news for all freedom-loving people.

Expel parasitic foreign entities by any means necessary. That value is what animated the American revolution. Those early Americans demanded true independence. This democratic impulse is now spreading across the globe and erupting in Egypt, Libya, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Palestine.

Empire is antithetical to self-determination and genuine democracy. There will be blood. American and Israeli blood.

Let freedom ring.

Another case of Republican treason, this time by Mitt Romney. It’s really unprecedented. American politicians have a long tradition of standing by their country and behinds its leader in times of crisis, and of doing everything possible to solve the problems. But Romney just couldn’t resist the impulse to pick up one or two votes with his cheap and thoughtless backstabbing attack.

And of course we shouldn’t forget the Republican congress consistently working against economic recovery, obviously and admittedly for purely political reasons. After all they have accomplished nothing but setting up roadblocks. It’s easy to destroy, (just ask the radical “Islamists”) and the Republicans are certainly succeeding in doing that.

Well, what do you expect from small men with small minds and big ambitions?

Please take a moment to think this out. We are talking serious decisions that will cost American blood and treasure. This whole thing smells and I can’t help but think that we are being played. No, not any of those wacky conspiracy theories, I am talking al Qaeda. The movie doesn’t exist, only “clips”. The producer can’t be found in any American or Israel database. The clips have be out about a year on UTube with no reaction. The attack occurred on the anniversary of 9/11 after the death of bin Laden. Think. Who benefits? We seemed to have been doing pretty good with the new Libyan government and with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Only al Qaeda benifits from us leaving the area. Lets find out more and then kill the right people. I for one don’t intend for the animals that did this to win.

You are absolutly right. We are under attack and are being played, from with in. We have been for 31/2 years. But his time is up and there will not be another 4 for Obama. “WE” do not want to do good with Lybia and Egypt we want to get our own house in order and restore our OWN country. And we are going to do it too.

You cant take on what some losers do and paint it,on all muslims and on Islam. This is anti-islamic and against our values. I heard that 9 libyan security personnel died in these attacks too. I repeat, my prayers are with family of Ambassador Chris Stevens and other victims.

Funny, I look at them like the typical government dependent. Living in government housing, with everything paid for by the government. They kill each other on a daily basis, and whenever Someone comes out and blames the man for something, thee are all too happy to go out and riot. For the record, these Democrat government dependents kill more people in the first 12 hours of a day than all right wing idiots kill in a year. In fact in Chicago alone more people die from them in a week than all people in America die by right wing nuts in a year.

This has nothing to do with the right and left. This is about a religion founded by a man who waged war his entire life, commanded his followers to wage war their entire lives, and at the ripe age of 53 had sex with his 9 year old wife. What would you expect from followers of such a religion?

There is a big different between Arab Spring and this recent event. The former was a huge explosion of discontents that have been suppressed for decades by dictatorial regimes across Middle East and affected a large percentage of the population. The recent event is simply a burst of emotion among a tiny crowd fueled by hatred of US influence. If you notice, the crowd that attacked the embassies are no more than 1000 people, while the vast silence majority offers some level of understanding and tolerance as most religions do.

I hope our government keep a cool head, not over-react and do the radical elements a big favor by unintentionally fueling the fire any further. Let it burn for a week or two, it will go away. We should base our foreign policy on the silence majority.

The murder of an ambassador is tantamount to an act of war; not by Libya but by Islamic extremists. They have made the ground rules very clear; there aren’t any. America & the west in general has the right to use any & all tactics to oppose terrorism. Supposed allies in the region; apart from Israel; are suspect at best.It was baffling as to why it took the US ten years to track down Osama bin Laden. When he was finally eliminated in his Pakistan compound adjacent to Pakistan’s military center, it became clear as to why.

The Muslims’ mind-set is he is really a Muslim and told them to trust him. He then apologized for what this USA has done. What a farce of International Politics and Policy. The Muslim Brotherhood is the Monster with three faces. Islam to control the world; Play peacemaker while creating unrest, Control Countries by Islamic rule, plot reform by genocide. Bin Laden was once an American “ally” in fighting the Russians in Afghanistan in the Soviet era.

Egypt was once an American “ally”. The forging of the peace treaty between Egypt & Israel garnered several politicians the Nobel Peace Prize.

Libya’s Gaddafi, was once terrorist in chief, later turned “quasi-ally” against Al Qaeda, subsequently befriended by mainstream British educational, economical, & political institutions. The toppling of Gaddafi was supposed to be the launching of western style democracy, but democracy led to the rise of Islamists.
Similar trends happened to many other countries that appeared to be blooming with democratic principles, only to result in greater threats to religious freedom for Christians, Coptic or otherwise.

When are we going to learn from all these happenings?

Eisenhower condemned any toppling of foreign regimes publicly, but secretly sent Kermit Roosevelt(son of ex-President Roosevelt) to topple Mossadegh in Iran in 1953. Eisenhower considered himself a great success in the covert action lying to the American people( reference: Eisenhower: The White House Years, by Jim Newton, 2011 Edition, Doubleday Press, pages 135-136)while curtailing forces that he saw as American enemies & promoting the oil interest of the United States and its staunch ally Britain. (The move was proposed by the Brits initially during the Truman years. Truman rejected the British proposal, but Eisenhower adopted it. )

I don’t know what other classified diplomacy and foreign relations decisions will be exposed in the future( often, information is declassified after 50 years; hence all these new books now on Eisenhower because he ended his Presidency in 1960.

60 minutes is supposed to be the tell-all show. Yet, in the tribute to Andy Rooney, Rooney was quoted as saying that Eisenhower was “honest”, referring to Eisenhower’s decision to be open about the diplomacy towards the end of the 2nd term with the Soviet Union(as it turned out, only because he knew that he would be proved a liar if he didn’t come clean). Obviously, Andy Rooney never got to read the declassified information, proving repeatedly that Eisenhower was not that honest, only honest when he knew the secretive material had been leaked. So he came out first, to “appear as” honest to the American public, but he really wasn’t honest at all. He lied to the American public. And Andy Rooney was duped still, on his way to his grave.

I cannot imagine what will be exposed, when the classified material, involving what we did with, did to, did without, or did despite Bin Laden in Afghanistan, in years to come! I almost don’t want to think about it. I’m not as disillusioned as many of our GIs during Vietnam, but I’d say I’m guarded about making any conclusions until those declassified material becomes available to the American public — if I live long enough to read those books, that is.

When the declassified material from the Truman years came out as documentaries on PBS, and in books, Truman started to look much better to historians. ( His popularity had plummeted during the first term, almost costing his re-election, and continued to dive towards the end of his second term. )

In contrast, Eisenhower, the other war hero was quite popular. Now we discover that he was popularly regarded as “truthful” only because he knew how to lie — like a true poker player that he was.

@jo5319,

Japan is an American “ally” after WWII until now. The WWII allies have won the WWII and a few Chinese islands invaded by Japan early in the sino-japanese war should have been returned to the Chinese. However, for some technicality of the civil war in China, the US has kept those islands. The secret deal happened in 1970′s when the US transfered the control of these islands to Japan without the consent of the Chinese, either the ROC or the PRC.

Our dear ally, Japan, is lately controlled by its far-right wingers and announced some transaction of the island to declare officially its ownership. This has angered the Chinese all over the World.

Here is the risk we are facing immediately when things get out of control: A conflict between China and Japan, even on a medium scale, will plunge the two economies into chaos. Then we can kiss good-bye to QE3 and say welcome back to the Great Depression.
