U.S. stops short of recognizing Syrian opposition body

i cannot imagine obama and his administration would even consider recognizing all the different militants, including, but not limited, to al queda.

I’m sure that in Iraq there were many who welcomed the US initially, before it became clear that the US government didn’t quite have their best interests at heart, while there are probably many in Syria who, while opposed to Assad, would be equally opposed to US intervention, especially with the historical precedents that have been set. It all comes down to who the media is focusing on at the time, and grey areas don’t exactly make for attention grabbing headlines.
