Between major storms and earthquakes you have to wonder what other tricks Mother Nature will be providing for Halloween!

Haida Gwaii is the politically corrected name of the Queen Charlotte Islands, but nearby Prince Rupert seems to have escaped the trend.

@pbgd Queen Charlotte Islands have been handed over to native autonomous ‘nations’ and are referred to in their Haida name ‘Gwaii’. Set aside the snark – just about every spot in North America has three or four different names from aboriginals, French, Spanish and English. I’m sure Jahilia or Mecca sound silly to you, you’d prefer ‘Blackstoneburg’, or Yathrib or Jerusalem are goofy, you’d prefer ‘Godstown’… grow up pal.

Also BC sees quakes all the time – they are all way out at sea about 150-300kms out. The last biggie (over 6) was last year and further south by the cities. Even a mega-quake would have little effect on Vancouver or Victoria: both are built to code that would make the Japanese impress and neither is on open water – no tsunamis. Nothing to see here, move along… go find your tragedy elsewhere.
