This only plays out like Apple has the FTC and other US regulators in their back pocket. Apple has been violating not just Google’s patents, but patents from many many other companies for years and to the tune of billions of dollars. Google is now seeking injuctive relief because Apple doesn’t want to pay up yet somehow regulators are turning this back on Google for asking for what is only right?
If this plays out and we effectively kill off a FRAND holders right to ask for fees then we are going to kill off standards based devices. We might as well go back to a free for all where everyone does something totally different and totally backwards.
