Job growth quickens, giving Obama some relief
Who cares if the job data offers Obama no relief; It’s the country and its people that need relief. Maybe things will get better if Obama was out of the way.
Whether we keep this guy or bring in Mitt, please Dear Lord, make it work. We need to get our country back on track again.
The Democrats blame the Republicans, The Republicans blame the Democrats, now go be good little sheep and vote for the innocent party!
js2012….Yet, it was Obama’s policies and decisions that reverse the negative economic growth brought to us by GOP/Ryan/Bush policies. It was Obama’s policies that produces 5.2 jobs in 4 fours after the nation was losing 750,000 per month under Bush in 2008. It was Obama’s policies that helped save the US auto industry. The nation has received the relief it needed in a time of trouble. And, 32 straight months of private sector growth.
Our economy continues to ameliorate every month. Best news ever!
Hope is not a policy. Change is a policy. Vote for Romney next Tuesday. — Grandpa… Listen to your elders.
@tkboxer – in other words, congressional republican thugs are saying “nice country you got there, it would be a shame if something happened to it.” – Krugman, in today’s column.
js2012 — You sound like the football fans who boo the starting QB so loudly that the coach is forced to send in the bench warmer, who almost always does worse than the starter. Obama’s kept the country in the game up until now, and the future prospects look fairly decent, the prospect on the bench may look better through those rose colored glasses, but his weaknesses will likely be exposed when the pressure’s on.
Not mentioned is the fact that 2/3 of all jobs during Obama’s presidency have gone to immigrants (both legal and illegal). http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/oct/31/two-thirds-of-jobs-go-to-immigrants/ So even though the job numbers have been horrible the last four years, they are actually a lot worse for native-born Americans. Meanwhile, Obama has just granted amnesty to 3 million illegal aliens and wants to eliminate the cap on h-1b visa’s which floods the IT field with cheap, foreign workers.
It is obama the incompetent’s policies and decisions that has restricted proper growth in the economics of the country. The job losses in 2007-2008 were directly related to the Dodd-Frank bill that the democrats passed to extend home ownership, through Fannie and Freddie, to anyone who could sign their name on a loan, regardless of their ability to pay back the loan. The result was a massive default on those toxic loans that spiraled into the recession that became reality.
So yes, the democrats created the recession, and as we have seen with obama, democrats have a problem telling the truth.
Let’s not forget that todays unemployment numbers shows the rate rising to 7.9%, because it’s the same old tired rhetoric from the worst president ever.
PHenry13…Yeah, right!
@phenry13
we’re all immigrants except for native americans.
horrible job numbers are bleeding 850,000 jobs a month during the last several months of bush2 while heading for depression, compared with adding 5.2 million jobs since obama took office. oh, and stopping the 7500 point landslide in the dow under bush2, which i bet looks a lot better in your 401k now than at the end of 2008.
@ Reuters: So last night you offered a highly editorialized piece on how job gains were lower than expected, spelling doom for the President. This, before the actual data came out. Turns out you were wrong. That kind of presumptive, erroneous reporting is irresponsible and does not qualify as journalism. Now the actual figures come out and you go ahead and report them as needed. I don’t see the mistaken article on your page anymore. Wonder why?
Do you think your readers cannot see your bias?
My relief will come when he’s voted out of office!
That photograph of a roller coaster sitting in the ocean on the New Jersey coast sums up the US economy: up and down; broken; and still underwater.
@ncman64
where do you get your “facts”. dodd-frank wasn’t a law until july 2010! do you realize that most of the mortgage defaults occured ouside of fannie and freddie, and that the majority of all losses were from high risk investments from those mortgages? most of the failed mortgages couldn’t even meet fannie and freddie requirements! it was the credit swaps and derivatives that caused the huge losses, not the underlining mortgages. none of fannie or freddie mortgages were used for these high risk investments that when south. and in my opinion, your inbred hatred towards the majority of the country is disgusting.
Relief for Obama. How about relief for us. This report is BS, just to help the fanatic left re-elect this failed man. Left or right, Obama is a failure. Let’s stop thinking about free condoms and worry about our country. Obama is a complete failure, and if we do not vote him out NOW, we not only screw ourselves, but the next generation as well. The hatred on both sides is destroying our once-great country. This is not a matter of left or right, liberal or conservative. My family has voted Democrat for generations. We have two choices. Romney, a man who has succeeded in everything her has ever done, or Obama, who has failed completely in the only real job he ever had. PLEASE stop thinking about left and right. PLEASE. Obama was not qualified then, and four years of suffering should be enough proof that he is not qualified now. God Bless (and God Help) America.
Einstein said it best:
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
We tried Obama. Let’s wake up and not do it again.
If it was up to Reuters Obama would not have to run for second term as president he would already be made czar than we can get to say czar goes obama.
Romney says that jobs report is a reminder that economy is at a virtual stand-still.
Romney seems to criticize just every job report to Obama.
He isnt fair and judgement as he closes his eye on the US Congress. Congress holds equal responsibility to this mess.
If Obama is at fault .. so is the current congress, both GOP and Dem.
We should fired them all …. start with a new team and new approach.
For Romney, I still keep him off. Too much of a chamaeleon. I hate lizards.
Ha Ha .. another misleading news from the Media.
@phenry13
Your wrong. Born here? You are a native. Are your parents illeagal? There are legal ways to fix it. Be honest. Do the right thing. Have some honor. Show some integrety. BE AN AMERICAN! Nothin in front, just AMERICAN!
Obama was member of Democrat-controlled Congress 2007 – 2008. And President with a Democrat-controlled Congress 2009 – 2010.
He now claims Congress is to blame for everything he hasn’t done as President, 2009 – 2012.
So that means while he was in Congress he was part of the problem besetting George Bush when the economy stalled in 2007. Or does he want it both ways?
Bush tried to get things done in 2007 to control runaway housing. But Barney Frank and Chris Dodd refused, saying all was well. We know how that turned out.
Obama is selling snake oil. We have all suffered.
Unemployment rate goes up. This is good news for the President, according to Reuters.
Must be a Democrat in the White House.
I remember the pounding Bush got when the economy was adding nearly 500,000 jobs a month with almost full employment.
paulk97 wrote “the future prospects look fairly decent”.
well yeah, unless your one of the people that get’s stuck with this impossible debt.
Unemplyment went UP! 7.9 Wrong direction. End of story.
EphraimF wrote:

Like electing the same people, pushing the same policies, that caused the last huge recession and expecting different results?
Yes. I agree. That is insanity.
All this spin that the president has accomplished something positive is just crazy. Waaay tooo many people are still out of work! Why the media is so in the tank for Obama is nuts. The economy is struggling. Time for a change – Vote Romney.
@rgolds, please name one month in the Bush 2 years where the economy gained 500K jobs, I am looking at data now and highest I can find is 470,000 and that was in March of 2000, so be hard to attribute that to Bush2, that is Clinton policies still at work. Beyond that one month the highest I see is less than 400K. Did you know that bush 2 was the only President in modern history to have 0 or negative job growth over an 8 year term?
The righties are getting better it actaully took about 10 rows for someone to say that some positive news is BS, usually they have that in the first one or two posts. Cause remember if a Democrat is in the Presidency and unemployment reports are good news it is a ‘lie’ or some sort of conspiracy, but if it bad news it the truth.
Change the headline, Reuters. The unemployment rate went up and the stock market tanked!
The fact is that US “free trade” policy has failed, and failed miserably. But US “Affirmative Action” policy to decrease the number and pay of white men has been spectacularly successful, aided by men accounting for 80% of the jobs lost since this depression began. Now, no matter what, we live with the consequences of the changes to our society.
The question is whether the 90% of the people who theoretically “rule” this land will do anything to change the status quo, or indeed whether they can change it. This system suits our top 10% by wealth quite nicely, and most of them think we should substitute cake for bread, a la Romney. If it does not change substantially by shifting taxes paid (all taxes, not just that one jokingly called “Income Tax”) upward in the income scale and slashing defense spending to the average of the defense budgets per capita of the next 3 largest world defense establishments, then it becomes clear we need a new form of Government disenfranchising corporations (“corporations are people too!” ;) ) and the rich.
If it is broken, and broken badly, fix it !!! It is the Government, stupid!
Once again, it’s leftist hypocrisy at it’s finest.
Sure, he has his “plan for jobs” but in the same breath he complains that the Republicans haven’t allowed him to pass his agenda these last four years. Now, if we look at elections all around the nation, we can see that Republicans are making GAINS in Congress. Now Mr. President, if you haven’t been able to pass your “plan for jobs” these last few years, how are you going to get it past for the next two and possibility next four? A vote for Obama is a vote for another four years of excuses. I don’t know about many of you, but I want to see my tax dollars going to ways to improve our economy. I don’t want to see people on welfare, I want to see people have jobs.
Don’t be bought by already broken promises and vote for Obama. If you are the rational voter, you’ll know Mr Romney is not out for the .01% like many leftist propagandists propose. If he was, there would be a lot more media stories coming out from legitimate news sources (and no this does not include MSNBC and the Huffington Post, sorry Democrats).
Be smart, don’t vote on rhetoric and propaganda.
@ totherepublic (and all you nay sayers) – how can you say that 7.9% is the wrong direction, when two years ago October 2009 the rate was 10.1%. So, over the past two years the rate has decreased 2 full percentage points. When looking at any data that has the possibility to change month-over-month, take the numbers in a wider context and use a wider range becuase the rate fluctuates month-to-month. This gives a truer picture of what is happening. Now re-tell your story.
Thank you for you interpretation of this month’s jobs report David Axelrod…….errr “Jason”
USAPragmatist
You need to put away your outdated data. This is 2012 with it’s own problems. The biggest one is that the policies of today are NOT working and have not worked the past 4 years. Romney himself has disagreed with Bush’s economic policies and has himself had more than a little success. Time to change the policies of today, if the policy maker of today will not change (and he said he will not), change the policy maker. That simple, you know REALITY! HERE AND NOW.
@EphraimF Well said, couldn’t have said it any better.
Gobama!

You sound like you have the cure for our pain. So what is it?
Business is so bad every retailer in our area is putting up Christmas Decoration and asking everyone to do a lay-a-way today. A lot of what is happening is seasonal. I just don’t think anyone should brag about it all. Democrats keep telling us those figures are adjusted for the seasonal hiring, but there isn’t anything at all in the announcement that indicates that is the case. I think the Democrats are jiggering the numbers again.
Well thank goodness he is getting some relief. It seems so much better now. How about relief for those who cried for it in Benghazi and who are now crying for it on the East Coast? Too busy now cause he’s back on the campaign trail!!! Always campaigning never goverening. Should we be surprised by this from an admistration who’s head was, is a community organizer? Organize them to vote Liberal not to help them have a better life.
I’m barack obama & I approved this message.
How much did “obama for america” pay reuters for this little ditty?
Ohhhhh Look, Michelle took a Photoshop class and made a cute little Pamphlet for her hubby, just in time for another desperate need. If you notice real closely the thing is about 1 page thick…… Propaganda again folks, more lies more lies……. Oh and those Jobs their talking about……. Government Jobs…….
…and obama himself admits he cannot do it. Now he wants a secretary of business to take over. Get real! NO MORE CHANCES. YOUR DONE!
How is it “relief” when the unemployment rate just went up?
Typical left wing slant from Reuters. Not a surprise.
@PortlandME Nonsense. The unemployment rate is at 7.9 percent NOT INCLUDING the underemployed or those looking for work. That number is closer to 11 percent. The reason the economy tanked in 2008 was because of a housing market crash brought on by liberal policies with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Bush tried reforming both but was rebuked by the Democrats in Congress. Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story.
LOL at this ridiculous article and ridiculous outlet trying to soften the blow for Obama. How does the unemployment rate going up give Obama some relief. According to our Obama cheer leading media, the rate goes down it’s a sing of progress. The rate goes up, it’s a sign of progress. No matter what happens, the corrupt media will shield Obama.
Well, four years later the monthly unemployment rate rises yet again & this Reuters story headline touts the report as showing “Jobs growth quickens, giving Obama some relief”. This is “relief”? Are our standards really that low?
@EphraimF: Romney has found personal success at the expense of others. Even with Salt Lake city olympics they are still paying back the debt from the $6 billion Romney borrowed from the fed.
Romney’s business record has only shown his objective to maintain wealth at the cost of the employees when things went wrong.
He even screwed the taxpayer when they announced that the auto makers were being rescued by upping the cost of parts produced by Delphi.
I am not blind to the slow economic recovery just as I am not blind to the even worse situation in Europe. But to suggest that Romney can wave his magic wand and revive the economy I can only attribute to the idea that you are on hallucinogenics.
Let me be the voice of reason here….you want to keep seeing storms on the east coast get bigger and bigger? Do you want to see more death and destruction of our country? Keep electing people who dont believe in global warming. Yeah…just keep doing that. Keep electing people who think all the answers are in a bible instead of a text book. Yeah…keep doing that. And all you independents out there better get on board with the democrats because if you dont you are going down with the ship with all of us.
Unemployment goes up and the headline reads “Jobs growth quickens, giving Obama some relief”? I didn’t know the Obama campaign had folks at Reuters! =}
And oh…by the way…your God….doesnt give a flying you know what about politics and Jesus doesnt either. Stop praying and start educating yourselves. You want someone to help the US…write your congressman or woman.
Reuters, stop fudging things, your suppose to be a “respected” news service….the truth is:
171K jobs were created.
170K jobs were lost, unemployment rose to 7.9%
If your going to report, report everything.
We need change…either Obama changes his ways, or we get a
successful business man and manager Romney in the White House.
The number of people looking upticks because the holidays are coming, and they are starting to look for seasonal work since there are no perm jobs yet. Good luck to all of them.
If a Republican was in the White House, the headline would’ve read, “Unemployment SOARS to 7.9!!!!”.
Reuters, it isn’t a matter of the glass being half full or half empty…it’s just empty. Telling the public that a decaying economy is doing better isn’t journalism…it’s the worst form of propaganda: one which attempts to lull the public into a false sense of security and discourages the gullible to act toward reform.
It’s clear that you, as a news source, aren’t concerned with the success of America, just your political affiliation.
I guess by Romney’s definition of change, he would put on the same stinky underwear from 4 years ago and call that a change of clothes. The only change Romney is offering is of himself. Every week he changes into a new Romney-bot, he reaches into the closet and puts on a new Romney suit along with a new set of talking points. His etch-a-sketch is stuck on shake mode.
And for those who point at the 7.9 jobless rate number in this story and say “aha!” this is bad news, please read again. Republicans seem so intent in reading bad news into everything and rooting for the failure of America so they can blame Obama, that they forget their own arguments. Republicans have been saying for a very long time that the jobless rate would be higher if more people were looking for work. Ok, here it is, isn’t that good news? 10% more people looking for work and jobs being created. If the job creation rate would have dropped, the 7.9 number would have a different meaning. Come on, give our country some credit.
Right on USAPragmatist! Folks are so busy playing the GOP “Blame Game”, they don’t look way back at the plain facts. After 2 yrs of massive doses of negativity, people are numbed and go along “for the ride”.
Further dishonesty from Barry and company. Where is the correction from last month when not all the states reported their numbers? That correction alone would push the numbers back over 8%.
A pack of lying thieves.
@jcfl – you said it. The last few months of W’s time was teh beginning of horrible job numbers. What you fail to mention is that in 2006, the Dems took over congress and before that unemployment was very low, household incomes were better, etc. Then Dodd-Frank and other messes from the Dem congress began the fail. Then for 2 years of the current admin, they did NOHTING but healthcare with FULL CONTROLL. No job.economy work at all!!! Both candidates are a waste, hopefully we can save ourselves.
usagadfly…you mean the same white men who voted against their own economic interest when voting for Republicans like Bush in 2004. Also, public and private studies have indicated that white females, like your mother, sister, daughter and wife, have benefited from Affirmative Action polices more than any group in America. With the unemployment rate nearly double the rate of whites, how can you, with a straight face, say that African-Americans are benefiting from affirmative action polices? Finally, it is not African-Americans or people of color taking white peoples jobs, it is white-male CEOs of large American companies that sending American jobs to foreign countries like China.
7.9% unemployment is exactly where the unemployment rate was when the Obamnation took office. I don’t get what there is to be optimistic about with this jobs report. More of the same old stuff no work and no one working to get us back to work. The Campaigner and Chief is on it!
UNEMPLOYMENT RAISES TO 7.9% … from 7.8% Time to celebrate?!
Wait, oh the U6 number is down, from 14.7 to 14.6
Reuters, way to try and pick the best of the gawdawful worst !!
how is this anything about politics hurricane Sandy just puts the east coast out of work and Obama says more people are working if you believe this buffoon you are entitled to the mess you are creating,
WE have done pretty darn good even with the republicans not working with Obama to get legislation to repair our roads, bridges, and schools that would have added many jobs, not only in construction, but in manufacturing, motels, restaurants, grocery, hardware, clothing, and shoe shoes.
REMEMBER THAT MCCONNELL SAID IN 2010 THAT THE REPUBLICANS NUMBER ONE JOB WAS TO MAKE SURE THAT OBAMA WAS A ONE TERM PRESIDENT AND THEY HAVE DONE ALL IN THEIR POWER TO STOP ANYTHING THAT WOULD HELP CREATE ANY JOBS—THEY WOULD RATHER SEE THE COUNTRY TANK THAN FOR OBAMA TO SUCCEED!!

I think the there are a significant number of the remaining unemployed are there not working bacause of there no jobs, I think their are holding on to careers or a industry that shunk and those types of jobs are not coming back (manufacturing and construction). They must either relocate or re-educate themselves to a new career.
EphraimF…failure is when you have negative economic growth, when you take a budget surplus and turn it into a 1 trillion dollar deficit, when your policies cause 780,000 people to lose their jobs per month, when your economic policies create the Great Recession. Success is when your policies reverse these negative situations- policies of Obama did just that. Next time, please use a dictionary or Google to learn the actual meaning of the word failure.
Wow – What a way to spin a story. The unemployment rate goes UP and its good news for obama. LOL

tenniss1…great Republican talking points with no real meaning. I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. Real cheap price…interested?
Never has it taken so long to recover from a recession. The very, very small recovery there has been is IN SPITE OF Obama’s policies. Even so, the unemployment rate is still higher than when Obama took office. What party has had no real power the last 4 years? The GOP. If you want higher gas, energy, and food prices, go ahead and vote Obama and Dems. This economy is struggling to recover, but with the Dems. running the show, it can’t. Obama has proven he won’t work with republicans. I know liberal claim its the GOP blocking, but even Obama’s own party couldn’t get one vote for his budget. What does that tell you? Only one candidate has experience working with the other side and getting stuff done.
Just this week, the Center for Immigration studies released analysis of government data that shows two-thirds of the job gains since 2009 have gone to immigrant workers. This follows a decade ending in 2010 where all of the net employment gains went to foreign-born workers. Immigration is good for new immigrants and cheap labor advocates, but it does not put Americans back to work.
“Only people who are looking for a job count as unemployed.”
There it is, read it with your own eyes. That’s the problem with this country, your president, your experts, and the delusional gun ho political mongrels that defend their parties to the grave.
So people whom have lost their jobs at the collapse of the economy caused by automotive industry, banks, and wall street whom can no longer find jobs that pay well enough to support their families and whom bailed out private industry banks are basically considered losers now. Everyone whom has lost their job after the initial collapse and no longer receives benefits is also no longer a statistic according to this article. It is truly a disgrace what this country has become, what our politics have become, and what every president we have ever had truly is.
You know what they say, Reuters is Liberals.
Country would do far greater with Obama and his regulatory minions out of the way.
@Jiggidy,
As long as you keep believing the swill spoon-fed to you by the left, you’ll never learn anything:
Global warming is occurring. We can’t stop it. For those of you who aren’t too lazy to do your own research, you have no choice but to believe your political leaders.
We’re experiencing global warming because we are still coming out of an ice age with a cyclic rate of 12,000 years, give or take a few centuries. This is caused by an eccentric wobble in the earth’s rotation. It is NOT caused by CFC’s, Methane from cow poop, or the evil, baby-eating Republicans.
However, environmentalists have found that this geological phenomenon is a cash cow, creating billions in government grants. The politicians from the left jumped on board when they saw how wealthy Gore became from the carbon-emmission-causes-global-warming lies that all the rubes bought into.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reporter that the real unemployment rate is 14.6% We put a trillion dollars into Obamas change machine and guess what? Nothing Changed.
The dufus who wrote this article is apparently unaware that the working age population is growing at a rate of 200,000 per month, and has increased by 9 million since Obama took office. http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/CNP16OV?cid=104 (But of course we have had a net gain of only a little over a million jobs in the same time period, see http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS12000000, so the percentage of the population working is stuck at the same level as in the depth of the Great Recession.)
At this pathetic rate of job growth, given the rate of population growth, it will take, let me see, about ten years to get back to the employment levels we had before the Great Recession.
So go on, idiots, and babble about the unemployment rate.
The economy is definitely recovering. My family’s businesses are definitely doing better, and the stock market is up dramatically from where it was in 2008 when George W. Bush ‘s republican policy of totally deregulating financial speculation totally trashed the economy.
It’s not just us — I see it all around; and the statistics confirm it. Of course, there’s a long way to go until we have fully dug ourselves out of the hole dug by George W. Bush (no wonder the Republicans are hiding him away !!. And the way is being made even slower and longer by Republican obstruction in the Congress. But there is no doubt in my mind that we should re-elect President Obama, who is working hard for us; and not elect the evasive, dishonest, flip-flopping Romney, who works for the most corrupt of the billionaires, like Sheldon Adelson and the Koch Brothers, not for us.
According to Moody’s Analytics, the respected economic analysts, the outlook for the economy and job hiring is good, no matter who’s elected president. That’s right. Once a grand bargain is agreed upon early next year to deal with the deficit, the economic engine which is the U.S. economy will rebound. Growth will accelerate in 2013 and we can anticipate a 4% GDP growth rate in 2014. Ten million+ jobs will be created during the next four years.

Check out a terrific speech by Bill Clinton campaigning for President Obama in Mason City, Iowa a couple days ago:
http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/26573264
@ConradU812 I do remember when ethynol was touted as being a GREEN solution by the left and other idiots who thought they knew better. They rallied to subsidize it as well and turned it into the monster it is today!
Oh and also keeping tarrifs high on sugar cane which cant compete with corn syrup.
What left Obama supporting idiots dont look at : THE END RESULT. They seem only to care about intent and not actual result. This is the ONLY reason I can muster to explain why they support Obama. But still, its pure stupidity.
Conrad…truer words never more spoken. I knew the unemployment numbers were going up and still not where they truely are. If you have noticed lately, global warming has caused the disasters in NY/NJ, gas has ticked down over the last week a few more pennies each day, the dollar has never been reported stronger against foreign currencies, the president has put campaigning (which is not his real job…being president is – i hate the softball questions from the media) on hold and reached across the party line to shake Chris Christie’s hand, and lo and behold, unemployment goes up and that is a good thing? How can that possibly be good? To cap it all off Reuters reported that early voting shows a 52% to 46% lead for the incumbent…interesting how this is going to play out. Mark my words by 5:00 p.m. EST the race will already have been decided by the media based on the “early voting” numbers, the incumbent will have a sizeable lead and it will just discourage those on the fence from showing up to cast a “useless” vote since he already “won”. I think that those early voting numbers should be kept on hold at least until the polls have closed on the east coast or better yet..closed all over. If people only understood economics a little better. Sad, very sad.
@ConradU812
Is CO2 a greenhouse gas – yes or no?
USA: “that was in March of 2000, so be hard to attribute that to Bush2″
Since Clinton was still President at that time, yes, I would say it is hard to attribute that number to Bush.
“Everyone whom has lost their job after the initial collapse and no longer receives benefits is also no longer a statistic according to this article”
That is simply absolutely false, Change. The unemployment survey counts people who are not receiving unemployment benefits. As your own quote said, people who are looking for a job count as unemployed. Period. That’s the definition. If you don’t have a job and you’ve looked for work in the last four weeks, you’re unemployed. You divide that number by the number of people who are either looking for work or have a job, and you get the unemployment rate.
“However, environmentalists have found that this geological phenomenon is a cash cow, creating billions in government grants.”
I know of another geological phenomenon that’s a cash cow. Six of the ten most profitable companies in the world are oil and gas companies. Interesting how apparently only the climate scientists are motivated by profit on this one…
Bull s….for the election!
You want to talk about the last four year? Read this post and it has government chart links. Voting records can’t be lied about and I suggest you look further into this. Not only should Obama be re-elected, people need to wake up and there are names to be taken for treason.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mobileweb/bob-cesca/republicans-filibuster-ev_b_2018663.html
Okay this headline is the grand daddy of them all. 171,000 jobs added sounds impressive until you note that 170,000 jobs were lost during the month for a grand total of 1000 jobs added. The unemployment rate when up 1% which sends us the other direction. This is NOT good news.
Whoo hoo!!! Nice reporting Rueters.
As liberally biased of reporting as we’ve seen. Thank for contributing to helping our nation stay in the pit trying to get your man Obama re-elected.
“The dufus who wrote this article is apparently unaware that the working age population is growing at a rate of 200,000 per month, and has increased by 9 million since Obama took office. http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/CNP16OV?cid=104″
Wrong graph. Your graph shows only people over 16. The actual “working age” population is between 16 and 65… but that population declined significantly from 2008 to 2011, only beginning to come back in 2012: http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/LNU01076940?cid=32442
Increasing unemployment rate a good thing? We must have been in great shape when unemployment was 10+%. Unemployment rate means nothing; the only stats that matter are total labor force, income and inflation, real inflation. Throw food and energy into the mix and see what the real inflation rate is. We are reliving the Carter economy. Our economy is sick and is struggling to improve. We will be living with this “new normal” economy until Obama exits stage left.
So unemployment is up and more people are out of the workforce than ever before…but more people are out looking for work? And this is GOOD?
Reuters = DNC
Does Racism/Elitism exist in the United States of America? Is there a clear difference between them?
Definition of Elitism: 1.The advocacy or existence of an elite as a dominating element in a system or society.
2.The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.
Definition of Racism:
a belief that human races have distinctive characteristics that determine their respective cultures, usually involving the idea that one’s race is superior and has the right to control others.
2. a belief in a policy of enforcing the asserted right of control.
Q: So what is the difference between the two definitions?
A: TIME
Reading over several of the post, for this article, It seems as though that the people of this country don’t even realize that their opinions of others in this country have just been shifted and been given the justification of the word, “Elite” and they don’t even realize it. The reason, in my opinion, our government has not been able to move forward collectively, is because many of our elected officials have the mindset that President Obama is not and was not competentant enough to move this country forward. Some of that comes from clear and blantant views of his race, and others based on clear and blantant views of him not having or coming from a background that was connected to the “ELITE” of this country! It’s like our goverment, and the media that pushes this view is saying, “How dare this Man, who comes from nothing, try and tell us that we should treat everyone fairly”! How dare this “Man” try and hold the “Elite” responsible for paying their fair share! Even though the most successful in this country wouldn’t be so successful without the labor and hard work of those who move their companies, and businesses forward. How dare this “Man” fight for the rights of those who were not called to be CEO’s , Doctors, Engineers, Investor’s, Developers, Inventors, or advanced Educators! See it’s funny to me how, and this is just an example, the Mitt Romney’s of the world only push a certain portion of their religious beliefs, ie. Abortion, but make no real mention about other parts of the Bible that talks about the Wealthy blessing passing on their prosperity to others, or making sure that Women and orphaned children are looked after. But those who follow or agree with the reasoning of the Mitt Romney’s and how they want to only associate parts of their religious beliefs totally overlook the fact that they fester the most detestable sins of “GOD”, greed, pride, and selfishness! The reason their is so much opposition to what President Obama’s has attempted to accomplish in this country is because the only thing that the “Elite” can keep their eye on, and then warp the minds of those who “Think” that your trying to take what they have, is their OWN, Selfish agenda’s Period! There is not enough space or time for me to express the SHAME if feel when I think about how we as Americans view our fellow Americans! I’ve worked for Corporate America, and Now I work for the State, and their is no difference in how we are viewed, valued, or treated. Change is something that comes from within and no amount of money or prestige will ever “Change” how someone thinks of you because of 1. Your race, 2. Your Gender, 3. Your background, 4. Your religious beliefs, 5. Or what you’ve accomplished. I pray that our country could shed the judgemental, selfish, and uncaring views that we have toward one another, and try and accomplish real change for the advancement of us all and not just for those who already have it, while the rest of us struggle to get it! Forgive my rant… God Bless both candidates and our Country!
Alan Krueger, the head of Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, said the jobs report showed the economy moving in the right direction. (NOTE: On Fox News this AM, Krueger also stated that the unemployment rate had dropped “more than four points in recent months” … not true.)
Anyone else “smell a rat” on the jobs numbers? They revised BOTH the August and Sept. numbers UP… WAY too much… 30% on Sept!!! …and with 124K for Oct predicted, we get 174K-184K… ALSO 30% HIGHER??? Total B.S.!!! … and the Benghazi report will NOT be released until mid-Nov…. and we all know why… gathering VOTES!!! Note that BOTH the Oct predicted mumbers and the Sept numbers were increased by 29.8%…. a round 30% would have made the fraud just TOO OBVIOUS.
CONFLICTING DATA confirms the deception… “In October, average hourly earnings fell one cent to $23.58, while the workweek was steady at 34.4 hours.” When businesses are creating more jobs, there is ALWAYS a substantial INCREASE in the workweek hours caused by OVERTIME to meet labor demands. This phenomenon PRECEDES the hiring. The Obama Admin is LYING AGAIN… ALSO, the wages go UP when there is more demand for workers as employers try to keep their workers happy while simultaneously demanding more productivity… but instead it DROPPED… more deception. The ignorant public is being lied to by this Administration just prior to the election… it’s a VOTE GETTER. The Labor Dept. report is a POLITICAL FABRICATION.
Anyone who understands how to run a business (maybe < 10% of Americans) will know the job numbers are bogus… but the 90% of ignorant Americans (on this subject) wil be misled into thinking Obama’s policies are working… a TOTAL SCAM.
Stanford Economist on Bloomberg this AM… telling it like it is…. and it sucks… Even at the 170K/month level of this last (bogus) report, it will take 13 YEARS to get back to 5% unemployment.
I don’t see the difference between a 158,000 job month and a 171,000 jobmonth especially in light that these numbers are typically revised and usually downward.
We need 135,000 to 150,000 jobs a month to handle the new population entering the workforce so for Reuters or anyone to call this good news is absurd. It is certainly better than losing jobs, but at this rate those waiting for work should have something in about 10 years.
It’s amazing what a biased media can rationalize for their candidate.
funny how Google news (left leaner) has has this article on top for 4 hours now.
Please share the study: http://cis.org/who-got-jobs-during-obama-presidency
This is not a partisan issue. Legal immigration has been on autopilot for decades. Our national debate about legal immigration numbers is long overdue.
Come on? This is so bogus it stinks and you meatballs fall right in clapping your seal paws and thinking our country is just wonderful. What the heck has happened to you. Are you on crack too.
“ALSO, the wages go UP when there is more demand for workers”
Except when people are coming back into the labor force. The unemployment rate went up slightly because of the labor force increasing – you’d expect wages to remain the same or go down in that scenario. It means there’s more people looking for jobs. Your comment about overtime is the same – a business isn’t going to pay time-and-a-half when there’s an oversupply of workers. You’re just looking for anything to try to denounce this report based on no facts. Sad to see people reduced to this kind of partisan spin when they’re not even being paid for it – you’ve swallowed down the propaganda hook, line, and sinker.
@USAPragmatist – excerpt: Alan B. Krueger is an economist at Princeton.
According to one government survey, the United States added 4.8 million jobs since the start of the Bush administration in January 2001. But wait. According to another government survey, the United States added 7.5 million jobs in the same period. Although job growth is anemic by either reckoning, the record is significantly worse if judged by the first survey.
So Obama’s claims of 5 million jobs created is anemic as I have always felt because it is less than what is required to provide jobs for new entries into the job market monthly.
This race is about where we want aMerica to go in the future. I don’t see Obama’s policies pointing us in the right direction. Rather I see them weakening America overall in the world, both economically and national security.
Obama’s policies fail to address the systemic economic problems we have instead focusing on social problems. He also increases regulation which stifles teh economy and drives up teh cost of living.
So he neither finds a happy medium nor has teh leadership skills to gain bi-partisan support for making intelligent policy.
Therefore Obama must go and we must let another try. this should be the case in Congressional elections too.
“funny how Google news (left leaner) has has this article on top for 4 hours now.”
Are you serious? Google News is an automated service, soulice. You think there’s a computer in a Google data center reading Das Kapital?
So, how does a higher unemployment rate mean good news for Obama? That makes no sense.
Regardless, he is still running on a platform of raise taxes, spike energy prices, higher health care costs, flexibility with the Russians, more regulation, bigger government, etc. etc. etc.
If you do not want America to go Marxist, you have to get out to vote against this clown. Time to get rid of Obama once and for all.
Vote against him by Tuesday!
Job growth my butt I’m still out of work and I don’t see anything that looks like it’s looking up ..Always with the fake reports never see anything that makes you see any hope …I guess me being off the system because unemployment ran out makes it look like things are looking up….what a laugh
Unemployment was 7.8% in January of 2009 and 7.9% in November of 2012 with 22 million Americans unemployed, underemployed, and worse no longer looking for work.
This is what Jason Lange calls “quickening” job growth. A more correct term is stagnation.
Bill Clinton worked with the opposition party in Congress and created jobs. Ronald Reagan worked with the opposition party in Congress and created jobs. Barack Obama hasn’t shown the skills to work consistently with the opposition party and had priorities like Obamacare that neglected the economy and jobs.
When President Obama loses it will be because he didn’t share the same priorities as the American people, jobs!
The best way to fix the economy is to abolish tax on “rich” people and give them 50% of everyone’s income so they have enough money to create jobs, this worked well for the Rajneeshees, and would have worked fine in Jonestown and for the Branch Davidians if government thugs would have let them be.
And now for something a little different. Obama is like a Tony Romo… You like the guy – I’m sure at the end of the day (or game) he’s ultimately a “good guy.” However, he’s not going to ever get the job done. REMEMBER, you are only as good as what your record indicates – and that, unfortunately for all of us, is simply not very good. Please, no more excuses – no more Obama… or Romo (if you’re a Cowboys fan). May God continue to bless this wonderful country – hang in there east coast and NYC!
There were new Jobs Added
And Old Jobs Lost.
Al in all, there was ZERO net growth.
What a phony headline. Typical sycophant tripe. Obama gets relief? What about the 23 million true Americans who have no job? Does anyone think Obama give one sh*t about them? No he doesn’t.
“Quickens” means accelerates. Are you kidding me? Created 171,000 jobs but saw 170,000 new applicants for unemployment. This means the economy accelerated? When will Reuters realize that we are not idiots?
Only people who are looking for a job count as unemployed.
what kind of crap is this?
this is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard.
The jobless rate edged up a tenth of a point to 7.9 percent, but that was due to workers surging back into the labor force. oh really?
how do they know how many people are looking for a job?
sure the ones that are collecting unemployment or government benefits are easy to count but what about the ones who aren’t??
why dont people who WERE looking for a job and GAVE UP count as unemployed?
this whole system is a con job of cooked numbers.
BIAS ALERT. The unemployment rate goes up and job growth is pathetic. Reuters spins it as a positive for Obama. Huh?!
Most jobs that have been created by Obama have gone to immigrants: http://cis.org/who-got-jobs-during-obama-presidency

Rueters knows how stupid the American voter is. Look who we voted into the House in 2010. The Repubs appointed two members to the House Science committee one who believes that women can shut down their womb to keep from becoming pregnant during a rape and the other who believes evolution is a theory from the depths of hell perpetrated by the devil himself. So Rueters knows.
Also maybe there would be more jobs if the House Repubs would work with the POTUS and not pass jobs bills with amendments that they know the Dems will not vote for.
@Abulafiah,
No, not in the amounts we’re producing.
I like the title change from “no relief for Obama” to “giving Obama some relief.”
Absolutely no mention of the American people in either topic.
News flash! Obama =/= The People
Wonder what jumpin jack flash has to say about 7.9% this time around? Maybe Welch’s conspiro-crazy bus doesn’t stop here this month. Just sayin’………
Only a ignoramous would celebrate a increase in the unemployment rate, whether it’s .1% or not, it’s still increasing! God help Our country because the epic failure that occupies the White House now has proven without a shadow of a doubt, he has no leadership qualities/abilities whatsoever.
“The jobless rate edged up a tenth of a point to 7.9 percent” The unemployment rate went up not, down like your headline suggests…
What Growth? Are we dopes, there was a net loss. Anything to Protect Obama, Anything. Even at the expense of thinking we the public are fools. These numbers show, no improvement or benefit and no growth in sight.
@portlandme:
You are absolutely right! Yes, the leaders of our economy that have been packing up jobs and production facilities for export are white men. (Looking for the check they must have sent me since I too am a white male, an unemployed one …) Yes, the biggest beneficiaries of Affirmative Action are white women. (also looking for the check from them) So where did I say the primary beneficiaries of Affirmative Action were black people?
All I said was the purpose of the program has been more or less reached and now what has to happen is to figure out what to do with the result. If you think the people who paid the price for these changes are anyone other than white men, say so. Everyone else gets a Federally mandated boost. Half a century of that has made a difference, just as massive immigration has.
If you want to find people to handicap with racial / sexual preference laws, try going after white women. They have something to take. It is true that 80% of the jobs lost since 2007 have been lost by men. Not white men. Men. It is true that that has been a major goal of Affirmative Action. Think we need more male job losses?
Liers, unemployment went up, the spear chunker has failed in the 9th inning, time for a change!
JB1111, No matter how many times you say something it doesn’t make it true. As far as Benghazi, I am sure Obama struggles with those 4 deaths everyday, just as I am sure Reagan struggled with those 241 deaths from the Marine barracks bombing. Things happen, we grieve, and we try to do better.
Does this sound familiar? Economists point out that the Great depression happened mainly due to Brokerage Firms lending $9 for every $1 an investor deposited ( called an economic bubble). Starting in the late 1930′s and full recovery not until the middle 1940′s. The decline of the U.S. economy pulled down most of the other countries with it and their recovery took longer than ours. The U.S. unemployment rate was 25% in 1933 and still 15% in the 1940′s. Because the demand for products here and aboard declined exports went from $5.2 billion to $1.7 billion in 1933. The unemployment went down to 10% after the U.S. joined the world war. Until that time in order to keep people employed our government ran deficits, as the private sector would not invest enough to keep jobs at a normal rate ( HOARDING THEIR MONEY ). Sound familiar to you. The national debt went from $16 billion to almost $ 260 billion. One big difference between now and then is the fact that our country is not a supplier anyone, we have become a nation of consumers. So, as I see it Stop Complaining about our government increasing the deficit to create jobs OR go talk to the private sector about hoarding all their money instead of creating jobs. Good luck with the latter!
Nice going Mr. Obama, but a little too late and too little.
@akoins,
Obama doesn’t Republicans to work with him, he wants them to submit. His elitist attitude, mirrored by your own, shows how the left beleives they should be the ruling class, not a democracy, because the rest of the masses are too stupid to make their own decision. So, explain to me how much smarter you are than the majority who voted in the 2010 elections….speak slowly, since everyone else is obviously a little thick witted.
Convenient, I bet those numbers weren’t made to order like his job reports didn’t include a state.
I’m just wondering – since we are supposed to be shrinking Government, isn’t it a good thing that the public sector is still shedding jobs even as the private sector is adding jobs, and the heavy bleeding in the public sector is driving unemployment? Yes, that was sarcasm. My point is that we should be careful what we ask for.
I don’t think that Obama struggles at all over the deaths of the 4 in the Benghazi affair. But I’m sure he’s struggling over the way he and his administration completely mishandled it.

Until the number of people receiving tax-payer handouts goes down, the jobs’ numbers means nothing. We need people to be working, paying taxes. If they are either not working or working at such low-level jobs that they are receiving government handouts, where is the recovery?
Any job growth was cancelled by new jobless claims. The umemployment rate ticked up to 7.9%. How can this be good for Obama? The economy is stanant and growing at a slower pack than last year. If it wasn’t for the main stream media being in the tank for Obama, this would be a cakewalk for Romney.
We could add millions of jobs if the Federal Government just did their job and deported all the illegal aliens living in the United States.
Market took off with these new numbers, so full of hope.
Wait until the greenhouse gas regs are enforced and we shut down our coal fired power plants. And the EPA passes regulations stopping most of the natural gas drilling. Good times ahead.
So vote obama. Four more years of a stagnant economy. Just blame everything on GWB. It will help you sleep at night, except for when you are wondering about where the money will come from to pay your rent and your electricity bill. Good luck. We’ll need it if obama gets re-upped.
LOL your clumsy attempt to make Obama look good is an EPIC FAIL.
The LEAST you could do is “honestly” report that the economy has been horrible, there are MILLIONS of unemployed, and the Obama plan is NO plan.

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America ‘s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. Increasing America ‘s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. “GLASS HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY” Ok, so speaking as a “glass-half” empty kind of guy myself, the fact of the situation is it’s “glass 92.1 % full vs. glass 7.9% empty”. Even a pessimist has to recognize it could have gotten a lot worse, and there is nothing magic about 8% but irrelevant spin. The economy is getting better one way or another, like a slowly turning supertanker, and the election will just determine which party gets to pretend to have “fixed “it.
Since when did Reuters allow so much spamming?
I’m worried that the real jobs outlook is not as cheery. It could be that the holiday season is near and employers, especially retailers and e-commerce, are looking for temporary employees to help with the holiday traffic. I’ve read stories about how Amazon and FedEx/UPS are hiring extra temps to help out, and the numbers are pretty substantial. But you can expect most temps will not keep their jobs once Santa’s done with delivering the presents.
Hmmm….How convenient right before voting.
That is the highest unemployment of any incumbent since fDR
AND the numbers are worse than they were when he took office.

@The ignorant righties making claims like ‘well 171K jobs where added but 170K jobs lost so it only a gain of 1000′…the 171K jobs added number is NET JOB GROWTH. In otherwords it is # of jobs added -# of jobs lost. So in fact your armchair economist ‘analysis’ does not even understand what the numbers are representing.
So either one of two things, you are being willfully ignorant because the numbers do not support your ‘I hate Obama’ ideology or you are being just plain ignorant.
The republican party at their finest. Your elected republican officials have put their own selfish political aspirations ahead of what would be best for the people they represent. They have fought every sign of progress out of fear that the President would be able to claim credit. They should be ashamed of themselves. Just think of where we would be had they made even a token gesture of support and worked to get America back to work and thriving once again.
How does this give him any relief if the unemployment rate increased? What that means is the total number of layoffs were greater than the total number of jobs created. Creating 10 new jobs and losing 11 is not something to hang your hat on. Jason Lange a little truth in reporting please.
The comment I’m most fond of is by PatrioticTexan…”Liers, unemployment went up, the spear chunker has failed in the 9th inning, time for a change!”
He even spelled it wrong…it’s spear CHUCKER….your mother must be so proud! Soooooooooo…PatrioticTexan when exactly did you drop out of school..2nd grade or 3rd?
How did the job growth quicken? The unemployment went up and we didn’t even add enough jobs to the ones we lost.
CharlesMoody…please explain (if you can)..if Chris Stevens had made all those requests for extra security and/or keeping the current security he had…why he left the relative safety of the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli and traveled to Benghazi on that fateful day? The simple answer is..because he didn’t think he would be in harms way there. While this is a tragic event..had Chris just stayed in Tripoli..he would be alive today.
Great! Thanks Obama for waiting to the last days of your term to do something about the economy… You controled the house and the senate.. and you did what???
What a deceptive headline.
Just state it as it is: Economy is worse than when Obama took office. WORSE!
And stop blaming it on the previous administration.
Reagan inherited a worse recession and it improved after four years!
Stop supporting this man and maybe we’ll have a chance to improve our economy and our country.
@js2012 – may be things will get better if republicans allow the president to do his job
“Quickens” is probably an overstatement. We’re on a 65mph highway and we went from 5mph to 6mph. Is it an improvement? Sure. Glad for it. But in terms of real progress, we should be at 35-40mph at this point in the recovery. The job situation is very anemic. Happy for those who found work. Definitely good news for them. But we need a better engine or a good tune-up if we’re going to get out of this any time soon. I was happy to give Obama a chance. Why? Because people need work and if he was successful, more of them would be working. Ready to give someone else a chance. Jobs are more important than partisan bickering. You find a way to make it work… or you get replaced. That’s how it is in the jobs market and that’s how it is with my vote. And if Romney doesn’t get it done… he’ll be gone in 4. Need to get the economy going and get folks back to work. And enough partisan rhetoric. No time for it. People are in serious trouble and need work.
Just a thought…when you use the words “spear chucker” as a reference to the President of the United States….you just lost all credibility. I’m white and I’m offended by PatrioticTexans comments.
Of course hiring increased in October, businesses are hiring for the Holidays! Most of these jobs are part-time anyway and end right after the Holidays are over. It happens every year folks. these job increases have nothing to do with administration polices starting to work to turn the economy around, they are just typical yearly increases brought on by the holiday season. If you don’t believe me check last years statistics.
You can always find the a little boost to employment
For the hollyday season. GOOD PAYING MINIMUM JOBS LOL
Heck its still 10.2 % unemployment in Los Angeles
Look at that Jobs book!! Oh wow thats the plan for America!!
A cheesy Flyer!! .DAMN MY HIGH SCHOOL ECONOMICS BOOK WAS BIGGER!
I pray pray for America I pray Mitt Romney wins!!
Jobs? dont we need to wait till next wk when they correct this wks #’s? Prob gonna correct the unemployment # higher as soon as election is over also.
@usaprag
You also have to account for population growth too. You have to account for the new people entering the work force. That’s why unemployment is going up. Btw it’s higher thanwhen Obama took office.
minipaws, the republicans have done more to the detriment of this country and for that matter the world over the last twelve years that they will never get my vote again!!! I know…I fought in one of their wars!!! by the way…love the sheep reference!
A wise man once said…be the change you want to see in the world…
Good Lord…I hope hope there is one and that the interpreters are correct regarding the mayan calendar and impending the apocalypse…that is, only if Mittens wins!
Mittens is promising 12 million new jobs…is he hiring 12 million employees?
REMEMBER BENGHAZI !? Remember the armed service members and 911 victims who gave their lives under a Republican leadership and agenda! Oh, you must be utilizing republimath…
I gotta say it’s good to see so many people taking Reuters to task on this biased article.
ROMNEY/RYAN ON NOV 6TH! SEND A MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNMENT THAT IT NEEDS TO MIND ITS PLACE IN OUR SOCIETY!
Crash866: Bush fought a war on two fronts…oh ya, so did Hitler…how’d that work out for him again? Why isn’t Bush out supporting Mittens? Because the party knows that that would be suicide! Are all Texans bigots? I may need to change my name to Republitool!
This race is over.
Independent, You are spot on!!!! It has been their agenda to thwart any attempt for progress under an Obama presidency! They care only about profit…before country.
Really? Obama isn’t qualified for the presidency? AND BUSH WAS? YOU ARE WHAT ANN COULTER THINKS IS ACCEPTABLE TERMINOLOGY!
Contributing to the problem is low wages. Any time businesses don’t provide employees with insurance plans and don’t pay a Living Wage, then the rest of us, taxpayers are paying for ANY government support their employees are receiving.
checkthefacts…unemployment in Europe is much higher than when Obama took office. Do you think we should blame him for that as well?
altalks21..you don’t follow the jobs reports much do you? Most of the new jobs created are high paying jobs. Only 24% are minimum wage.
Folks…the world economy exploded. Worst situation in the last 100 years. Anyone that tells you they have a quick fix for this is a charlatan. I wish it wasn’t true..but it is. The whole world is dealing with the aftermath..not just the U.S. Given the circumstances…Obama has done a pretty good job. Romney has absolutely zero specifics on how he’d make things better. Slow and positive wins the race. That’s what Obama has given us. Our economy has stabilized and there’s positive growth across the board. Not as much as anyone would like. But there are clear signs we are recovering.
The American people do not feel any relief. President Obama has not done well in his policies to encourage business growth.

bellatexas..what do you think Obama should have done differently over the past 3.5 years? Have you ever managed an economy in free fall as a President?
Reading all the media spin about how these continually poor job reports “help” Obama, reminds one of the old adage that when you’re in the gutter, even the curb looks up. But not to worry, don’t fret, we have the biased media stroking us that it’s an “improving” gutter. At this rate, we won’t get back to pre recession job levels for at least another 2-3 yr by most estimates. If this “helps”, you deserve what you get.
I am a NH Independent who studied economics and history at UMASS after returning from the Persian Gulf War because I understood the value of continuing my education. I learned long ago that tax cuts to the rich “Job Creators” doesn’t equate to job creation, nor does “Trickle Down Economics” work. I believe in our country’s recovery, but it will take time, more time than impatient americans want it to take, but that is the way it is and the way Republicans want it to be, so suck it up and stop whining, you keep voting them in. Obama is doing the best he can while Republicans have been on a mission to thwart any progress to fulfill their own selfish agenda! Republicans are America’s greatest enemy today as they have been for decades!!! They are not “Patriots” they are a tyrannical group of rich whites who care not for this country, but their own wealth!
Jobs will come back, but individuals need to be trained for them. Mittens has no intention of providing retraining for our workforce. That would cut into the 1%er’s bottom line! I don’t see how manufacturing will ever return to previous levels in this country. There is too much cheap labor in the world. The 1%er’s in this country know this…it was their greed and lack of aggregate vision that shipped the jobs overseas in the first place. It is all about profit maximization!!! Take a stand against REPUBLICAN FEAR MONGERING OPPRESSION! Vote them all out then hold the Dem’s accountable!

I guess you think all those experiments proving that CO2 – in any quantity – is a greenhouse gas must be wrong, because Fox says so.

Prove it. Show us how the current warming looks even remotely like this 12,000 year cycle you are imagining. In fact, show us any historic warming, at any time, ever, that has occurred across a few decades.

“@akoins,
Obama doesn’t Republicans to work with him, he wants them to submit.”
Those Republicans who vowed to do anything to make Obama a one term president? Those Republicans who held the middle-class to ransom to protect the tax cuts for the 1%? Those Republicans who held the entire US economy to ransom over raising the debt limit?
Yeah… they are clearly falling over themselves to be co-operative. It must be all Obamas fault that they say “no” to everything, even their own ideas.
Mitt Romney says Obama is the most Partisan president ever. Ask Mitt how well he worked with a democratic senate in mass….he vetoed over 800 bills of which almost all were over ridden. Romney spent most of his last year as Governor out of the state. Obama put together 3 separate bi-partisan committees to try and tackle the debt. He appointed Republicans to Secretary of the Navy, Defense and Transportation. He appointed Republican Governor Jon Huntsman as Ambassador to China and he appointed Republican Jill Sommer as a Commissioner at CFTC. How many Democrats does Romney have lined up to give appointments to?
The titles directly contradict. Under “Discussed” title is “Jobless rate seen rising, offering Obama no relief” whereas here “Job growth quickens, giving Obama some relief.” Oversight and incompetence or biased smear?
The United States government now has more than 16 trillion dollars in circulation; funny thing is if that money was actually in circulation it would seem that we shouldn’t have an employment problem. Romney/Ryan and the Republican Party want to give more tax breaks to the people and corporation that are sitting on the money. Then in turn take the money away from people on Social Security who usually spend the majority of money that they receive. Romney/Ryan want to take money away from people health plans to that can’t get back into shape to get back into the work force. Romney/Ryan has a 9 trillion dollar budget proposal that they have no way plan or source on money to accomplish these goals. Now it’s really time to decide who do you really want running the government?
Dear Reuters:
In your sidebar, “DISCUSSED,” the above article, which carries the headline, “Job growth quickens, giving Obama some relief*,” is given an opposite headline, “Jobless rate seen rising, offering Obama no relief.” No doubt, you will want to correct one so that it agrees with the other. Judging from the content, the more accurate of the two headlines appears to be, “Job growth quickens, giving Obama some relief.”

Do you know that there are 3.2 million unfilled jobs in America (CNN 10/10/12)? A big part of that is due to lack of qualification. So why would Romney try to make college loans harder to get & harder to pay back under his proposed policies? President Obama cut out the middleman banks for government backed loans. Romney wants to put it back to big banks. Currently (a change made by Obama) college loan repayment is based on income. Romney wants to get rid of this policy. So if a persons salary is reduced, or due to job loss payment remains the same.
How is this better for our young people trying to get an education to be a quailfied & valuable employee?
I’m with PHenry13. Why our country would continue to let immigrants especially illegal ones into our country when we have such a high unemployment rate is beyond me. We don’t have enough jobs for everyone and we sure as heck don’t need to be giving handouts to people who didn’t earn their way into this country legally. I remember years ago when people were saying that the immigrants were taking jobs that no one else wanted. Are you freaking kidding me? Yeah, you may see some of these immigrants working in fast food, lawn care, etc but you also see them working in banks, doctor’s offices, hospitals, etc. And now they’re going to colleges with government handouts mind you….and guess what people? That’s right….they are taking jobs that belong to you and me. It’s time America and Obama wakes up and starts taking care of their own first!
