Insight: Scant evidence of voter suppression, fraud in states with ID laws

Voter fraud? The real problem is Republican sponsored Election Fraud. Quit rigging elections and fight fairly, you cowards!

In the USA, general practice on rigging elections is not so much denying access to the ballot box as it is denying meaningful choices being printed on that ballot to begin with. In the USA, we rig elections before the choices are printed on the ballot, which we consider “honest”, while we bitterly condemn societies that rig elections after the ballots have been cast.

Practically, there is no difference. The only real choice is “more of the same from the same rulers”. The chances for change are fundamentally the same is in the Congo. The rest is all theater.

It’s good to hear that the impact of these voter ID laws are small. Still, it’s wrong to institute laws that turn away ANY eligible voter when “Georgia officials could not point to a single documented instance of voter impersonation before or after the law took effect.”

Proving said voters eligibility is the problem. They could be English, or from other states, or voting multiple times. As far as documenting fraud what do you expect an investigation of everyone who walks in to the booth? These laws reduce the chance of voter fraud plain and simple. I have to show my ID to buy booze or tobacco, what is the difference?

@KyuuAL, do you have evidence of election fraud? It is a crime, so please do let us know. Of course it is also cowardly to hurl baseless accusations.

Here is an example of fighting fairly. You may hate them (I’m sure you do), but the tea party activists organized, and got their candidates elected. Those elected tried to pursue their agenda within the system. That is how your candidates do it when they are elected too.

Contrast that with the Occupy Wall St. movement. The best they could muster was a group hug around a tent or two because I never heard anything coherent from them. Nice job.

A photo i.d. is available at any license branch in Indiana for $3 and it is free during the election. A birth certificate is needed for the i.d. and you can get one for $12. I think most people can save $12 over a year before the next election.
The President requires a photo i.d. to attend his rallies, and Mrs. Obama requires one to attend book signings. They aren’t trying to keep people away. It is to protect the president and the first lady. Protecting our voting process is just as important. Why wait until there is a problem before requiring it. There weren’t any problems at Mr. Obama’s rallies prior to them requiring photo id to attend.
It is worth the trouble. People need to take responsibility for themselves and get themselves a photo i.d.
Requiring a photo i.d would keep people away? If that’s the case, they really don’t think voting is important. I’m not willing to risk the integrity of our voting process for people who won’t put in a little effort.
It doesn’t make sense to call the other side cheaters, but not want photo i.d. used at the elections.

I’m telling you guys, internet voting is the only way to go. I have 3 computers in my home, so I can vote 3 times. Much, much better than having to vote absentee, then vote early, followed up by voting again on election day. Much more convenient to vote multiple times by computer.
