We move with alacrity and dispatch against a soldier accused of harming Afghan civilians, but the prosecution of the soldier accused of killing American at Ft. Hood creeps in its petty pace from month to month with no resolution in sight.

Pathetic that they spirited this guy out of the country under cover of darkness. It showed a major lack of respect for the lives he took, apparently out of pure spite or vindictiveness. What they
should have done is turn him over to the Afghans and let them handle it.

@cpasteve, perhaps better attention to the facts of both cases would help clarify your misunderstandings. MAJ Hassan, accused of the Ft. Hood killings, had a “preliminary hearing” approximately one month after the shooting. Altivernatively SSGT Bales is having his “preliminary hearing” nearly 6 months after the alleged crime. Please explain how that supports your assertion that this case is moving quickly while the Hassan case moves slowly. Please explain, along with your unstated assertion that somehow Hassan is receiving preferential treatment over Bales. Or or is this just going be be FOX news with unsubstantiated claims, big words aside?

Very sad and tragic. The death of the innocents but also the fact of four combat tours gives me a sense of sympathy for him and raises questions about how long and how hard our nation has pushed our volunteer service members. If no fourth tour, no killings and no life in prison or death penalty for this serviceman. My generation had Vietnam, but one tour of no more than one year and it was over. These young guys all have had multiple tours, one in my family just finished his second. Very tragic for the innocents and man. I am sure when he volunteered he never dreamed that this is how it would end.
