I wish CONGRESS would admits it’s extramarital affairs. Wonder how their wives/husbands/partners would react knowing…

…they’ve screwed everyone one of us.

Oh my gosh, the Dems must have kept this out of the spotlight until after the election. We’ll also have to find that weather machine that produced Sandy right at the most opportune time.

ahms: what does this man’s personal private issue have to do with the Democrats? This man has loyally served his country under a number of Presidents. Now he and his family are the ones most directly affected and should be able to deal with it on their own.

I understand his resignation, and commend him on removing himself so that no one could blackmail him due to his position.

I bet Susan Rice used her personal friendship with Obama
to back stab Petraeus. Purpose: to pass the buck of her ranting and raving about the demonstrators over the video assassinated Ambassador Stephens.

Rice has been nothing by a disgrace since assuming the ambassador to UN post. She is a danger to the world and to our country. That’s despite the fact that she actually went to the same school as I did. I care about my country too much to not speak up about her incessant list of deplorable performance.

Even if the affair is true I think there’s other reasons why. I think he claimed an affair out of loyalty to our currupt government. It’s a great smokescreen and diversion from the truth. Either way I lose respect for a General that I once liked.

I think it’s cowardice for any uniform to decieve or knowingly mislead the public and I think he did mislead us on the Benghazi event. Trust me, I hate both parties, but I know BS when I see it.

The typical blackmail setup.
I wonder how many classified secrets that “affair” cost the US?
A little “pillow talk” is very useful as is access to classified information while the John is asleep or in the bathroom.
Was it Israel, China, or Russia that set this romance up?
All three do it all the time, but so does the US.
There is a lot more to this than they are telling you.

Now looks like Betrayus was apt – as far as his personal life is concerned.

As for the leftover Republicans whining, the conspiracy nutballs – you’d be hilarious if you weren’t so obviously in need of professional care.

Admitting to an affair and resigning is far better than admitting to criminal negligence (for his involvement in the Benghazi fiasco) and getting jailed.

Oh come now General. Nobody cares about your personal life. The nation made that clear with Clinton. You just didn’t want to be part of this administration after Benghazi did you?

If this was merely a resignation for immoral behavior, then why did Senator Feinstein, Chairperson of the Senate Oversight Committee, specifically say that General Petraeus would not have to testify before the hearings on Benghazi?

That comment was not in this Reuter’s article, but it was in the AP version.

What did the hearings have to do with his resignation?

Can’t be any worse than Clinton’s behaviour, so what’s the point in resigning.

Dude had an affair? With a woman? Who cares. That’s between him and his wife.

It’s not like he’s running for office on some bogus family values promise. He’s not even an elected official. He’s a work horse decorated general who snuck into the other pasture. So let his wife punish him. Not our job in this case.

So now the best way to get out of testifying before a Congressional Hearing is to have an affair?

What does one have to do with the other?

It’s not like he’s moving to Bengazi or Tim Buck Two.

Put away your tin foil hats. The guy served admirally, made a mistake, then made restitution. Where is the compassion shown to local yocals who serve 4 years and come home to a hero’s welcome? As if other servicement never make mistakes? This guy served his whole adult life and through his accomplishment, rose to the highest levels of service. He has accomplished more in his life than any of the posers on this blog. Hopefully he can find happiness in retirement.

An affair. You must be joking. David Vitter is still in the Senate, and he had to pay for his totty. This is purely political, and merely spares both Obama and the general a lot of slushy questions about Libya, the downed drone over Iran, and a few other things. Yeah he was slick, but he did serve his country. Tough break.

But it has been a very long line of Staff Officer’s in the Navy and Army retiring for the good of the service this past years. General Petraeus would be number 6 that I remember, yes I know he is the CIA Director. One a Submarine man, One on a Aircraft Carrier, One in charge of the fleet in the Arabian Sea last week, and two Army. There may have been more. Another article just said a new Lockheed CEO resigned before taking his job because of a affair. The military types have to be replaced so it costs the taxpayers money in training funds. Lot of horny dudes running around. Some one said a long time ago that money and/or power was a aphrodisiac. Definitely true in 2012.

Petraeus’ sudden resignation may be seen as a calculated move to relief himself from the obligation of having to appear before the congressional hearing next week to give evidence on the CIA’s security and intelligence lapses that led to the Sept. 11 attacks on the consulate in Benghazi that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three others. His resignation would also save him from a confrontational showdown with his big boss Hussein Obama over the latter’s big lie to the American people that the Benghazi attack was a result of a “spontaneous riot” over the anti-Islamic video on the YouTube and not a militant terrorists’ attack. His “silence” in not wanting to divulge the truth about the Benghazi attacks has made some people to wonder if his name “Petraeus” does not begin to sound like “Betray-us.”
