Belief a CFO can solve Best Buy’s problems is the “death knell” for this franchise. If this is the best rabbit the CEO and Board can pull out of the hat, game over. WAKE UP! Your only differentiator is brick and mortar locations. Yet the customer experience at your stores is often abysmal. Your focus on expenses is commoditizing you right out of business. Your only hope is to create meaningful, lasting relationships with your customers, which means you need more staff and they need to be much better trained. Watching Best Buy is like watching the tragic scene of an elephant stuck in a tar pit.
