For cholesterol tests, fasting may not be required

I’ve noticed that my non-fasting serum cholesterol levels compare very well with my fasting serum cholesterol levels. My non-fasting HDL is slightly higher and my non-fasting LDL is slightly lower. My fasting triglycerides are usually around 50 and my non-fasting around 140. Since LDL is typically a calculated value (i.e. triglycerides/5), elevated triglycerides would lead to a higher LDL reading.
