Where is the due process and trial? Why do we continue to support these terrorists? It’s high time we subject Israel to the same scrutiny as we do the rest of the world.

This is typical. Terrorists push it up to when Israel says they’ll attack, then want a truce. Seems terrorists need a reminder every so often that they shouldn’t fire rockets. Putting launchers in civilian areas is also typical of terrorists – seems many are willing to become martyrs over there, though I understand citizens may have a hard time stopping terrorists from setting up shop, now that they’ve been elected to rule their country (would be like LA residents electing the Crips or Bloods to run LA – it’s their choice…).

I think the fundamental problem is the way Israel was formed and their hidden constitution.

Israel was formed by taking away land and giving it to a group who called themselves Zionists. They did not take this land by force or buy it – creating a country virtually overnight as gifted by London with 2 types of religious sects of sorts (Palestinians and Jews).

Jews continued to pour in from all corners of the earth – increasing the sectarial tension. The Palestinians were never given a voice in the country’s democratic process. Isreali democracy only applies to their sect.

Palestinians were pushed out of Israel and relegated to a lower standard of living. Their frustration and anger with no voice in the land they used to live turned them into a terrorist nation. (Terorrism is war without means) – hell bent on getting their version of Justice.

We are at the point of no return with 2 vengeful sects (vengeance is in their respective religious faith).

To bring peace – you will need shared voices in government or an outright purchase of former Palestine by the Israelis.

Adding up all the previous, or even just the future wars and violence – you could take those funds and make each and every Palestinian living today a multi-millionaire with worked out emmigration papers to go to whatever county of their choosing (with United Nations help).

The first paid for mass exodus – similar to how Germany paid Turks to return to Turkey.

Or the Isrealis could purchase New York and relocated there – taking barge and barges of Jerusalem sand and artifacts to cover the need for their religious ties to Jerusalem.

We know, neither party will relocate and neither party will willingly create peace – so we go on and on. Maybe a living version of what their respective religions call purgatory.

I am sure glad I do not live there or think like them.

Surprisingly India and Pakistan formed some sort of stability fairly quickly with their similar sectarian split. Probably because their was more of a balance of killings and power – or vengeance is not as big a factor for them.

Really? It does but from within its internationally recognized borders from 1967. make them give back everything the stole since 1967 and they can talk about defending themselves as mush as they want. Are you saying that when Hitler invaded Poland in 1939 he was defending himself? Maybe so, but then we read different history books. The only thing I admire Israel for is for keeping 50 million Americans without basic medical care while milking US taxpayers out of billions under the excuse of ‘defending themselves’ and being ‘chosen ones’. For less than 8 million people to saddle up some 300 million takes considerable skill which one has to admire. How dumb do you get? Oh and by the way, if you read more about history, people living where Israel is today are not Semites as zionists would like you to believe but Ashkenazi Jews from the part of Europe where Germany is today. Also, if you read Torah which I doubt, Torah expressly forbids Jews from having their own state, but that fact as well as beatings of Torah Jews by zionists police is well hidden from you. You’ve got it right… by zionist owned media. Morons.

I think the post about how Israel was created is a bit misleading. The nation was granted to the Jews after WW2 and the horrors of the Nazis. It was the Arabs who attacked Israel – three times. If they had not attacked, the UN would have ensured that the original 1947 boundaries were respected. Instead, the fortunes of war prevailed. Then Israel invited the displaced refugees the chance to return – but they didn’t because they were sure Israel was going to be wiped off the map.

There are problems on both sides. But so long as the Palestinians insist on using force to attempt to destroy Israel, there will be only war. Should they pursue a purely diplomatic solution and abandon force, Israel and it’s supporters would have to come to the negotiating table – and things might be set right after this long time.

But I do agree with some of the posts: violence begets violence. No nation should be required to have it’s borders violated by rockets; Israel must fight to survive. The Holocaust taught them that. They will stand down and work with anyone who wants a peaceful solution.

@Voyager
You don’t know history for sh*t.

Why are you so sure ‘Israel’s the root cause of the problem’?

What was the land of Israel before the Jews came back to it? What was the historic Gd given homeland of the Jewish people, during the 1800 years they were bouncing from country to country as a persecuted despised minority?

You know what it was? It was a pitiful desert country littered with the dilapidated ruins of some ancient villages and towns. Some even were settled sparcely by illiterate and semi-illiterate Arabs growing olives, herding sheep and killing in the name of ‘family honor’.

Then the Jews started returning. They came with a passion. A fervor. They were resurrecting the land that had been clincally dead for centuries. They bought (yes, with money) land from local sheiks and they started working the land, drying out swamps, and experimenting with new and different crops. They started building towns and cities, developing industry and commerce along the way, and the dreamers even started thinking of establishing a full fledged state. All the while this productivity was providing food for Arab mouths and attracting even more from surrounding lands who emigrated and settle therein.

But lo and behold, the Arab, traditionally master of the despised dhimmi Jew, was either working for a Jew or getting shot by one when he tried to steal from him. What kind of nonsense was this?! Didn’t the Kuran say that the ‘people of the book’ must be ‘subdued’? Well, good thing the British didn’t care so much about crazy Jewish messianic aspirations. If it was expedient to give the Arab with all his desert majesty some kind of national identity, then so be it. Everyone anyhow was getting a country after the first WW; Poland, Romania, Hungary, Greece, Turkey, Austria Yugoslavia. The British figured ‘We can let the Arabs think they’re a nation too (primarily in Saudi Arabia, but Palestine and Jordan also. What the hell) for some help against the Turks, Jews be damned’. It didn’t hurt that the Arabs would get a bit violent if not being made nice to. All of a sudden, hundreds of thousands of Arabs who never before even knew what civil rights were, and who had mostly emigrated from Egypt, Syria and Iraq were now Palestinians. Well not exactly. They preferred to be identified as ‘Arab’, as the Jews took the epithet ‘Palestinian’, oddly enough. The land of Israel was now an actual Arab homeland, and not the former kingdoms of Judea and Israel (three times over during the period of over a thousand years) passing, in the form of a province, through the hands of Romans, Byzantines, Ummayads, Abbassids, Seljuks, Fatimids, Crusaders, Mamelukes, Ottomans and the British in the course of the next 1800 years. After the rout of 1967 the Arabs went a step further. They were now the ORIGINAL INHABITANTS OF PALESTINE. The biological descendants and spiritual successors of the Canaanites and Phillistines! Never mind that they spoke Arabic and originated in the Arabian peninsula, they were the land’s RIGHTFUL OWNERS. Ya hear me Voyager?! They were the rightful owners, not some European Jews sent as colonizers by the nations of Europe (for strategic reasons of course and never mind the obvious connection between the Jews and the land, and the millienia-plus old hatred of Europe from the straits of Gibraltar to Dneiper in the Ukraine), they were colonizers sent by the Western powers. If you don’t believe that, as any semi-educated sane adult wouldn’t, then why is Israel the ‘root cause of the problem’? Since then, Israel has been practically begging for the Arabs to come to the negotiating table, and even idiotically offerred to surrender 97% of the West Bank in 2000 (Thank Gd the Palestinians rejected it).

Please, if you’re going to make kind of heinous comment at least put forth a logical argument. We’re not all uneducated bums over here.

The Palestinians are to ask for recognition as a nation at UN on 11/29… If they are recognized, and they will if they ask, Israel will have much less international support for its cause… since the occupied territories already are seen as illegal now… and then will be even more against another true nation…

Israel is in a much better position to inflict a decisive blow to the palestinians now… Syria and Egypt cant attack Israel and Iran is far away… so no regular army will come to the rescue…
The west bank is so colonized by Israel and the palestinian territories are so fragmented that could easily be taken…
And then Gaza is the only point of true resistance… but it is more like a city under siege… with a non true and poorly suplied army, light weapons only, primitive rockets, no armoured units or air force…
it would be costly to storm a city, but not that much for Israel to take Gaza now…

So the only question is: Will Israel eliminate the Palestinian leaders and then accelerate the takeover process of the territories and make a definitive offensive against Gaza… or is all of this just a game to persuade the palestinians to drop their bid at UN and then continue with the traditional and more slow take over of the territories?…

1.Israel became a state in 1312 b.c., two millennia before Islam;

2. arab refugees from Israel began calling themselves “palestinians” in 1967, two decades after (modern) Israeli statehood;

3. After conquering the land in 1272 b.c., Jews ruled it for a thousand years and maintained a continuous presence there for 3,300 years;

4. The only arab rule following conquest in 633 b.c. lasted just 22 years;

5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem was the Jewish capital. It was never the capital of any arab or muslim entity. Even under Jordanian rule, (east) Jerusalem was not made the capital, and no arab leader came to visit it;

6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in the bible, but not once is it mentioned in the qur’an;

7. King David founded Jerusalem; Mohammed never set foot in it;

8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem; muslims face Mecca. If they are between the two cities, muslims pray facing Mecca, with their backs to Jerusalem;

9. In 1948, arab leaders urged their people to leave, promising to cleanse the land of Jewish presence. 68% of them fled without ever setting eyes on an Israeli soldier;

10. Virtually the entire Jewish population of muslim countries had to flee as the result of violence and pogroms;

11. some 630,000 arabs left Israel in 1948, while close to a million Jews were forced to leave the muslim countries;

12. In spite of the vast territories at their disposal, arab refugees were deliberately prevented from assimilating into their host countries. Of 100 million refugees following World War 2, they are the only group to have never integrated with their coreligionists. Most of the Jewish refugees from Europe and arab lands were settled in Israel, a country no larger than new jersey;

13. there are 22 muslim countries, not counting palestine. there is only one jewish state. arabs started all five wars against Israel, and lost every one of them;

14. fatah and hamas constitutions still call for the destruction of Israel. Israel ceded most of the west bank and all of gaza to the palestinian authority, and even provided it with arms;

15. During the Jordanian occupation, Jewish holy sites were vandalized and were off limits to Jews. Under Israeli rule, all muslim and Christian holy sites are accessible to all faiths;

16. Out of 175 united nations security council resolutions up to 1990, 97 were against Israel; out of 690 general assembly resolutions, 429 were against Israel;

17. The U.N. was silent when the Jordanians destroyed 58 synagogues in the old city of Jerusalem. It remained silent while Jordan systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives, and it remained silent when Jordan enforced apartheid laws preventing Jews from accessing the temple mount and western wall.

Israel, and its two-faced supporters over here, for example, Richard Perle and his company of Neocons, had a great deal to do with our stupid war on Iraq, killing up to a million people, and running up our national debt by at least $3T. (Check PNAC, if you have forgotten.)

Israel regularly makes us look like fools before the world, through the obsequiousness of our Congress, Presidents, and would-be-Presidents to whatever the AIPAC-types order.

Israel, and its two-faced supporters over here, risk running quickly gas prices up to $10/gallon and more, in the event of war on Iran.

Israel threatens nuclear conflagration on the ME, and even in the world, just to save their own God-given Zionism.

Our support of Israel makes us inconsistent supporters of democracy: we support Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yeman and the other Arab dictatorships not only for oil, but to keep Israel “safe”. We support jihadi imports to Syria to rough up Assad to the benefit of Israel. Unfortunately the jihadis may destroy Syria and do great harm to Turkey. Look what happened in Afghanistan and Pakistan. (And now Pakistan appears to be the most imminent nuclear threat in the world, along perhaps with Israel.)

A good fraction of the ME hates the US. But, we need access to their oil. Instead, to help out Israel, we are driving Iran, and probably Iraq, into the arms of our Chinese competitors.

Face it: Zionist Israel was a mistake! Israel: born out of the usual weakness, short-sightedness, and duplicity of Western politicians, not to mention the Western perpetrated Holocaust.

Best thing to do: support a one-state solution for Israel, and get rid of the Zionist ideology. Virtually everybody in the world would benefit from this solution, even Jewish people.

Look for the original quotes yourselves if you don’t believe me. There’s quite a stark contrast to what was actually said compared to how they are usually “translated” in the US media

It doesn’t escape my attention either that a lot of these people seem to have mysteriously set up accounts today purely to comment on this one article, making it in all my time here the most commented article I have ever seen here, which I find more than a little suspicious. It seems that for the last few hours the Israeli government propagandists have been going on a blitz to sway US public opinion into supporting them in their next engineered war, and the saddest part is that many here seem to be buying it, without even thinking to check the facts. I must say, AIPAC really seems to have perfected the art of brainwashing the US down to a tee, since absolutely nowhere else in the world has such a distorted view of the entire situation.

Does nobody see the pattern here? Ehud Olmert becomes embroiled in a corruption scandal, and before you know it there’s a war in Lebanon. Tzipi Livni needs to shore up her security credentials for an upcoming general election, and there’s a war in Gaza. Benjamin Netanyahu calls elections, and the timetable for war with Iran gets moved forward. Netanyahu gets robbed of his Iranian threat, and within a short time everything erupts in Gaza once more, just in time to distract Israeli citizens from their own internal problems before the upcoming election.

The christain religons would be allowed to flourish the way they are now, by being harrased and bombed, by the peaceful Muslims. Look at what is happening in the countries that the Muslim Brotherhood has taken over. Open your eyes to the hypocrisy of the Muslim Brotherhood and the lies they tell until they are in power and you will see exactly why the one-state solution will never work.

If Mexico started lobbing rockets over the border into San Diego what would the US government do? I’m guessing our response wouldn’t start with our calculated understanding of the other country’s feelings and an appeal to the UN for a cease fire. The US government stole lots of land from Mexico. They’re not trying to get it back through military means; mortar attacks, blowing up busses and pizza parlors, shooting rockets blindly hoping to hit something. Meanwhile, all around these military assets held by Hamas are schools, mosques and children. Israel isn’t right. Not by a long shot but I’m pretty sure the people who live in San Diego would want the shelling to stop just as the people in Beersheba want the same thing. It seems there are no grown ups in the Middle East. But I’ll tell you this, I wouldn’t pick a fight with the biggest kid on the block, over and over again, getting my butt whipped over and over again, doing the same thing over and over again waiting for the one in a million shot that I could win. It’s insane. These anti Israel types don’t want Golan Heights, they want to destroy Israel. Ask them, they’ll tell you. Israel isn’t going back to the pre1967 borders. Why would they? This is a (no pun intended) Mexican stand off and no one is blinking.

Israel’s biggest mistake in recent years has been to put more settlements into the West Bank. The West Bank has lived in peace for years with Israel only to have more land settled by Israel. Israel has not lived up to Camp David accords, the West Bank has and should get more autonomy. Gaza on the other hand has not lived in peace. Armed by Iran via Egypt constantly attacks Israel and gets the iron fist in return. The Muslim Brotherhood won the presidency but hardly has any mandate with only 28% of the vote in Egypt. The military there is semi autonomous not backing Mubarak during Arab Spring and won’t attack Israel on Mursi’s say so. Attacking Israel cuts off military funding from the US, once depleted the armed forces can’t be rebuilt. Iran on the other hand more isolated than ever, it’s GDP falling fast, it currency devalued by 40% needs confrontation with Israel to get support from it’s Persian people. Our navy stands between an Iranian missile attack on Israel as part of the joint missile defense. Iran has little other capability of attacking Israel with no landbridge other than proxy fighters in Gaza. Israel would be far safer offering an olive branch to the West Bank than their current policy. Continued settlements only drive the West Bank into supporting Gaza. Gaza is a small strip, the West Bank far larger an area, far harder to watch.

The Palestinians already have a state… It is called Jordan. There is far more discrimination and suffering imposed upon the Palestinians by other Arabs than by Israel. Even the Persians are in on the act, using Hamas as a tool by which to terrorize Israel while using Palestinians as cannon fodder. Ever wonder why the Mullahs and Islamic clerics use Palestianian suicide bombers? If the reward is heaven and 72 virgins, why are the “holy men” of the Islamic world sitting out the suicide attacks themselves? The Palestinians are just the tool by which the Muslim world attacks Israel with the blessing of the idiots at the UN General Assembly. It is clear by the votes in NY and the posts in this forum that the bigotry and hatred of Jews is still alive and well, 67 years after Hitler’s “Final Solution” came up a bit short (much to the chagrin of Alex Jones and others of his ilk). Thankfully the US has remained an ally of Israel throughout the Jewish nation’s history. I hope that Obama continues this policy, although without another election to restrain him, I am very concerned that he might not. Pray for Israel and the safety of the Jewish people.

How naive of anyone to suggest that there is anything Israel can do to end the violence. Even if Israel ceased to exist the violence would continue because Islam has a goal of world domination so you can’t sacrifice Israel for peace because until we are all ready to accept Islam the war is on. So to all the Kafir fight or convert. The choice really isn’t yours to make. Osama bin laden said that he would stop fighting when we accepted Islam and I asked my liberal coffee shop friends what they thought that meant. Boy are they dumb. They thought it meant that the fighting would stop when the west started treating Islam with respect. Hey wake up it means the war against us will stop when we convert to Islam.

@CitizenKK Do you think possibly the fact that Israel has for years prevented any building materials from entering Gaza might have something to do with that?

@jeffin FL: Jordan had control of the West Bank in 1949 when King Abdullah got the territory after the war with Israel. That is where the Palestinians were in Jordan. Since that time current Jordan has not let in Palestinian refugees and Israel today controls the West Bank.

If they weren’t firing rockets into civillian territory in Israel at a rate of 800 a year you would have a point. But they do fire rockets at civillians, and so you don’t have a point. Hamas needs wiped out completely. They are the equivalent of Al Queda. The Palestinians will never have peace as long as Hamas is allowed to exist.

For you people that hold Israel the blame, I am sorry to say, you are not objective what so ever. How would you like to have rockets shot into your neighborhood all the time. This is what Hamas and the terrorist Palestinians do all the time. They do not want peace at any or all cost. They want to Destroy the Israelis and all of Israel from existance. PERIOD> Israel have given land to these people who had NOTHING to begin with. How can you expect Israel to give land back from the 1967 war, in which Israel was attacked. Do you expect the USA and other countries to give land back from the wars they have won. It works both ways. Not because you are Prejudice against Israel should they give the Palestinians land which they NEVER had. Read up on your history for once. Israel won this land and it is RIGHTFULLY Israel’s. So, if you are that prejudice against Israel, that is your personal problem. Get over it or go fight with the terrorist and take your chance. Some reading and common sense might help your think process for once. Shalom!

@Robert76: Well, it seems like you living a dream life – unaware of the ground reality or You just trying to be innocent in front of world like that terrorist nation aka Israel is doing for last couple of decades. Killing thousand of innocent palestinian for years, occupying and invading their land illegally, attacking their Holy places etc all can end up peacefully – NOWAY! Let me give you a better option for this i.e Israel would have to accept their fault which they should be ashamed of by far and to bring this terrorism to an end complelety. Otherwise, you can have another look at what NATO is upto in Afghanistan after more than a decade. In the end, SHAME ON YOU ISRAEL !

Shame on you MohsinKhan, for not understanding or keeping up that it is HAMAS shooting rockets into Israel constantly and Israel has had the patients of saints not to DESTROY Hamas. Hamas WILL NOT accept the RIGHT for Israel to Exist. Abbas has started to accept and wants no part of Hamas. Israel has every right to defend itself and could have over the past years destroyed Hamas, but hasn’t due to the fact that Hamas hides behind civilians. Israel does everything humanly possible, to save civilian lives, but it is Hamas that puts them in the front lines for propaganda sake against Israel. If someone was attacking your neighborhood or even your home you are saying you wouldn’t do anything. Well this is what Hamas has been doing to the Israeli people. Th whole message in a nut shell is you are prejudice and not accepting the FACTS that Hamas is a TERRORIST inhuman organization and not worried about the people civilians they command. Israel has given these people land and the truth of the matter is the Palestinans had nothing to claim and Israel won the lands in the 1967 war. The Palestinans aren’t even allowed to live with theother Arab countries and have never had claim to any land. War is War and Israel could have Destroyed them. Israel values life to the point of exchanging one soldier and freeing 1000 terrorist prisoners for the one Israeli. One are just ignorant and racist. SHAME ON YOU!
